AARP Ladies Night

These ladies are more core than I am lately. This is a still from an AARP (American Association of Retired People) marketing video featuring ladies of a certain age who skateboard. The leader of The Sisters of Shred is non other than the skateboard mom/cow, Barbara Odanaka.

– Thanks to Charles Glover for the tip.

When I first saw this article, I immediately rolled my eyes and said “oh god.” But I have to say, this is actually pretty cool. It shows how much skateboarding spans generations and kudos to AARP for making an otherwise boring/tired brand that’s associated with golfing and knitting in Florida into a much cooler more relevant of the generation brand.

  2. agreed ,this is pretty cool . these chicks probably skate more than my 40+ friends .

  3. Hey thanks so much, Skate and Annoy! Appreciate your kind words. We know we’re not “core” by any stretch, and many skaters probably have less pleasant ways of describing us, so thank you for the respect. 🙂 If anyone wants info on our group or our annual charity event, please visit http://www.mightymamaskateorama.org thanks!
