Surf or Die

This is the Surf MC’s album Surf or Die that came out on Profile records in 1987. It’s pretty awful stuff, but the video has decent art direction with a little bit of Pee Wee’s Playhouse and a lot of Stacy Peralta and Craig Steyck. At first I thought it was a music video that Peralta would rather forget, but they used Skull Skates boards instead of Powell Peralta.

Here’s the album cover. Very neon, very 80’s. Very much a bail in panel three.

The back cover features an unfortunate photograph of the guy with the skateboard who happens to look like someone’s aunt and/or a WNBA player in this picture. It’s funny because he looks like Jason Lee in a wig on the cover.

Cheap Steyck imitation, but still effective.

A couple of these guys know how to skate, but I’m not to sure about the guy in the blue sea foam colored shorts, he seems to spend most of his time wiping out.

The lyrics for this sequence are awesomely bad.
