skateboarding puppies at the ASPCA blog

Skateboarding puppies

The ASPCA blog has a video of a skateboard being mobbed by a bunch of puppies. Kind of reminds me of the street section at the skatepark. Awwww ♥♥♥!!!

Trish McMillan, ASPCA Director of Animal Behavior, took this footage while conducting a training session with the pups. She says she uses it with every new litter of pups they get in. “It gets them used to novelty, skateboard sounds and moving surfaces.”

  1. From a canine behavior perspective I do agree that exposing puppys aged 6-11 months to skateboards can help socialize them to this stimulus. Lots of research has been here, not with skateboards per say, but with the general “socialization window” that young dogs appear to have. I would assume that most adult dogs that bark at the coping typically were not exposed a young age. Anybody remember Hugo?

My cat was on Planet’s Funniest Animals skateboarding. Maybe our new puppy will have to learn too. Yep Brad, we got a dog.
