Woody Woodpecker Skateboarding, a lot.
So far this is only the second appearance of Woody Woodpecker on Skate and Annoy, but it’s a big one. It started how these things usually start, an innocent glance at an auction item or an old forgotten file saved on a hard drive. Instead of just a puzzle, this time we’ve got PVC figures, plastic fast food toys, alarm clocks, animation cells, skateboards, and a comic book.
Skate and Annoy Cameo on The Nine Club #356
Skate and Annoy makes a cameo appearance about 3:30 into episode #356 of The Nine Club, featuring Steve Olson & Steve Alba. Apparently Alba has a few boxes NOS Clouds that were manufactured by Rannalli. The Nine Club used an ad from the Vintage Skate Mag Advert gallery as a visual reference because not everyone remembers Rannalli. The best part is watching Olson crack up about the fact hat they were able to pull it up so quickly. I’d like to thank the Nine Club for leaving the website visible. Also, thanks to everyone who messaged me when they saw it. Honestly, I love documenting the weird, crappy companies more than I do the ones everyone loves and remembers. Moments like this, knowing that someone out there appreciated it makes it worthwhile.
Piccola Pupa – The Skate Board Song [1965]
Thanks to the Facebook-Site “Skateboarding Hall o Fame” for finding that rare video from 1965, featuring italian-born Piccola Pupa on the microphone and Wendy Bull on the skateboard.
Fresno pools video
Dean of Team Shralp/100 points out this preview of an upcoming project. The clip is chock full of amazing pool skating. Dean is a bike rider who has been a real supporter of the skatepark effort in Portland, coming out for meetings and raising money. Sorry about the Ed Benedict thing dude, vert riders ahd nothing to do with the bike ban. Check it out after the turn.
Glen E Friedman on BoingBoing
I always thought Xeni Jardin seemed cool with that spiky while hair. Turns out she’s actually a punk rock survivor. She does an interview with Glen Friedman on Boing Boing TV. Looks like Glen Friedman had a show at Shepard Fairey’s gallery in LA. Fairey’s interview last week was pretty great too. I was wondering about the skate photos in the background. You tube version embedded after the jump.
Two track mind
Here’s a short webvert with a skateboard theme for an unlikely business. I don’t wan to spoil the surprise, so check it out after the jump.
Skateboarding puppies
The ASPCA blog has a video of a skateboard being mobbed by a bunch of puppies. Kind of reminds me of the street section at the skatepark. Awwww ♥♥♥!!! Trish McMillan, ASPCA Director of Animal Behavior, took this footage while conducting a training session with the pups. She says she uses it with every new litter of pups they get in. “It gets them used to novelty, skateboard sounds and moving surfaces.” View the clip after the turn.
Scab! scab! scab!
In solidarity with the striking writers, all the adorable animals on the Internet are going on strike. From Colbert Report writers Frank Lesser and Rob Dubbin.
Its A Bowl!
Here’s the latest news from the windy, and very cold Columbia River Gorge skate scene. A backhoe broke ground one week ago on the new bowl. Mark and Graham are both diligently getting it done by working the landscape into submission and laying out the design. Now for those of you that need to see it from the horses mouth you can watch a video of Graham explaining it after the jump.
Lupe Fiasco – Kick Push
Hip hop skateboarders? Now I’ve seen everything. No seriously, I think this guy does a better job than most singing about skateboarding without making it sound silly.
