Heroin Skateboards reigns supreme when it comes to non-traditional skateboard shapes and sizes, and now they’ve added the Wingee Thingee which has been confirmed as an homage to the legendary Skatewing that is beloved here on Skate and Annoy. Have they flown too close to the sun with this one? Who knows. It’s not even on their web site currently, and 3rd party websites that do have them seem to have copy/pasted a description that is in error: “taking inspiration from an old-school winged metal skateboard and transforming it into a modern curb-crushing machine.” Although there was a plastic version at some point, the OG Skatewing is made from wood. To my knowledge, they never produced a metal version.
Here are some images of the Wingee Thingee, most of which came from TGM Skateboards. As you can see, it’s not nearly as exaggerated as the Skatewing. The wings on the Heroin version are mere suggestions, especially when seen from the side.

This just in: liljawns_rails makes something called Wing Tips, which… well, why not? You hafta be cool to rule.

Here’s a few examples of the real Skatewing. As part of the non-existent Skatewing Preservation Society, we have quite a few posts on them. If you only had to pick two, I’d choose brand new in a box, and a Tale of 2 Skatewings, comparing one that is near pristine and one that has seen a lot of abuse.
