Painfully New Old Stock

I wouldn’t wish these Rector knee pads on my worst enemy, but it’s kind of tempting to have a brand new sweat free pair on the wall. I remember being so stoked on these the day I replaced my soft padded volleyball-style kneepads for a fresh pair of Rectors. They came in a nice plastic bag with a hard handle that had locking tabs. $15 bucks is about what these are actually worth, with historical/nostalgia value making up the greater part of their worth. 1. I was more of a “Dr. Bone Savers” man, myself.

  2. Throw some Smith caps on them.

  3. Remember wearing “double Rectors” for extra knee protection? I think Craig Johnson had the biggest knee pads in the mid 80s. It looked like he had sewn 3 sets together.

    1. Didn’t he have double capped Pro designs?

    2. Cecil pads!

  4. Still got a set of the matching elbow pads…..

  5. I have a set of (worn) blue ones, and sadly (more like patheticly) can’t find it in me to throw ’em out. Gross!!!

  6. I used to wear double knees when those pads were the best out, but I think the elbow pads hurt me more than they helped. The caps were too small, and on a really hard slam the edge of the cap would dig in really badly in my elbow joint. For a few years in the ’80s I’d get these awful stabbing pains INSIDE my elbow like there was a bone fragment or something. Anyone else go through that?

  7. I loved my early rainbow sewn gloves – was it Rector ? with big studded marroon plastic studs on the palm and gum on the finger tips.
    Trashed them down to mitains.

  8. damn… if I could spare the $15. I would go for some of these . I don’t need/want mega ramp pads, I’m not doing 10 ft christ airs.
