Chris Lehman for Ghetto

In the ghet-to

Worst Elvis song ever. Andre’ Corbin sent in some pics of Ghetto Skateboards rider Chris Lehman. They are out of Zephyrhills, Florida, which is about an hour and a half south of where I’ll be in about three days. I don’t think I’ll make up there, though I do want to hit the Bro Bowl in Tampa. I’m going to try to hit Dunedin as well. I say “try” because you how it is with family vacations at the in-laws. If you don’t, let’s just say they can be trying times. Right. See what the kid in the lower right is gawking at after the jump.

I skated the ghetto complex last year on a road trip up from tampa back to Ohio. It’s a rad spot and I skated for free by emptying the garbage..not bad

dude, if you think that is the worst elvis song ever, then you haven’t heard a lot of the songs he sang in those godawful late 60s formula movies.

  5. Yeah, definitely by far not the worst Elvis song. The middle picture is my favorite.

Clearly you are not a fan of the King, Kilwag.
In the Ghetto is one of his best.
Suspicous Minds, Hound dog, Heartbreak Hotel, are of his worst.(exluding movies) Guh, do your research man.
    Great pics.

  7. maybe randy doesn’t have any fond memories of cold and gray Chicago mornings… in the ghetto… in the ghetto…

here’s the worst ever version of the “worst Elvis track ever” sung (loosely speaking) by a Spanish Gypsy Prince.

  10. Best Elvis ever, NO CONTEST:

Im pretty sure this is legit, saw it on one of those faces of death type videos back in the day before good computer stuff…

  11. I cannot believe none of you PDXers have mentioned Jim Goad’s (Answer Me Zine) and Thee Slayer Hippy’s version of “In the Ghetto” (band=S.W.A.T.). One of the greatest covers of all time.

Kwag- If you hit the bro-bowl, inner city rules apply: park far away and skate to the bowl and don’t bring any money or attitude. It is not a “skatepark”. If you go that far, hit Dunedin. I understand the in-law situation though…sucks.

  12. Yeah.. I’ve heard the audio from that Elvis concert years ago. I didn’t know it was captured on video. I’m pretty sure it’s legit too. I don’t know that he was on drugs at the time, performers flub up some time. Funny stuff though.

Skayer hippie whaaa? I don’t listen to metal (Except the Darkness, and Deathlok) so I don’t know wtf you are talking about. Yeah, I’ll be sure to check my atititude at the bro bowl. I’m famous for bringing my attitude to skateparks 🙂

I don’t count all those film soundtrack tunes in the running. In the Ghetto might still be the worst because he wasn’t forced to sing it in a movie, he actually sung it because he wanted to. I bought a 45rpm single of Suspicious Minds when I was a little kid. My Grandmother was a big Elvis fan and for some reason as a little kid with a Close-N-Play I thought I needed to own that record. I think the second one I bought was Rock On by David Essex.

  14. Was that Nu Wave?

ha. Poison Idea is one band that I never got into. Just never really heard it.

Plus, hardcore as a genre only interested me for about 15 minutes in my timeline of punk appreciation.

    crucify me.

    PS:listen to brujeria!

  17. “crucify me.”

I’ll leave that up to everyone else in Portland.

Poison Idea is about as good as it gets from that era imo.

And, I wasn’t trying to sweat you about the brobowl….just trying to give you head’s up. Sorry to look out for a pal… stop being so sassy 😉

  18. Sassy was my favorite magazine.

  19. … she’s sixteen and she’s really special.

who really? not rocking poison idea?
its punk on a legendary scale..thrashy and rough.
jerry A, pig champion, the other dude and thee slayer hippy wer and are the kings of punk.get an .mp3 or single for “Plastic Bomb” and you’ll get it. amazing shit. feel the darkness is where you should start album wise. please do this for both of us. it’s important. for all of us.
then you can write a rad belated memorial piece for pig champion who died in the last few years (for real this time) and have pictures of the funeral in lego’s or happy meal skateboard toys. in doing this you would both gain knowledge of wonderful music and simultaneously provide us all with entertainment. that’d be a good thing to do.

  21. … I can’t slow down I’ve got a date with the devil

  22. I love Final Warning more than PI.

  23. I love Fair Warning….. (Van Halen)
