Skate and Annoy: Daily
Juice Slam
Conahan sent me this. Apparently he was too weirded out by it to post. Someone should have explained to the suits that the word “slam” has an unpleasant connotation when associated with skateboarding. Burstin Berry? Eeewww! I think I got a few of those this weekend at Sleestock. Nice tweaked tuck knee. Recognize the skater? Is that a Japan air? One more pic (the same one really, just in one piece) after the jump. Does anyone remember Slam wrist guards? They had a cool pop art logo. Now that was a good product name.
More Sleestock Coverage
The Skateboard Archives has two pages of pictures from Sleestock 2007 that look like they were taken around the same time mine were.
Western Washington Roadtrip
Don’t be so gay. You’re the fag. Am not, you homo. You wish. I wish you were a homo? ’fraid not. Just a sample of the scintillating dialogue from Skate Trip 2007. More of the same plus reviews of the Skateparks of Washington, this week on… Conahan and Kilwag: At the Skateparks.
The skatepark design debate has ended!
The great debate can finally be laid to rest. Are you sick of hearing “Too many old dudes making the decisions.” or “Too many bowls.” or “Not enough vert!” or “Stop being a spoiled baby and skate what you have!” ? (How do you punctuate that sentence anyway?) Well then, your prayers have been answered. We went directly to the source, the youth of today. Because children are our future, we consulted this birthday card to come up with the perfect skatepark design. (Thanks to Troy Sliter)
I went to Sleestock 07 and all I took was 4 crummy pictures
I went to Sleestock 2007 and I only took four pictures. Two of them are butt shots, and one is of a local that who was definitely not into having his park invaded by the likes of the Stak, or probably anyone else for that matter. I took five pictures actually, but one was a bail. “Why have you forsaken me?” you ask. Well I can’t answer that. It certainly wasn’t for lack ripping or interesting subject matter, and the turnout was good. I felt like taking it easy while not wrecking myself in the bowl. And I forgot all my stickers. I was, basically, useless. There were plenty of other cameras there so we’ll keep you updated. If you post pictures drop me an email and I’ll put together some links. Until then, you can view SnA’s massive coverage after the jump. Thanks to Bobcat for putting it all together again.
Ed Benedict goes to Newline/California Skateparks
California Skateparks & New Line Skateparks are the team that the Evaluation Committee selected. Purchasing is approaching them with regards to signing the contracts.
Chavez Bowl
Skate and Annoy, your repository for deceased skate spots, brings you the Chavez bowl. Actually, Dave V is bringing it to you. The video of the ceral bowl in Texas reminds me of Joel and Dave Chavez’s old bowl in Richmond, Ca. These were taken about 4 years ago. The bowl was built completly from found materials…they didnt put a cent into it. It’s no longer there due to noise complaints but it was fun while it lasted. It includede a plexiglass light for viewing and weird angled coping… not that easy to skate but no cereal bowl either. Does anyone remember that band Chavez? They were pretty good.
