California Skateparks & New Line Skateparks are the team that the Evaluation Committee selected. Purchasing is approaching them with regards to signing the contracts.

Skate and Annoy, your repository for deceased skate spots, brings you the Chavez bowl. Actually, Dave V is bringing it to you. The video of the ceral bowl in Texas reminds me of Joel and Dave Chavez’s old bowl in Richmond, Ca. These were taken about 4 years ago. The bowl was built completly from found materials…they didnt put a cent into it. It’s no longer there due to noise complaints but it was fun while it lasted. It includede a plexiglass light for viewing and weird angled coping… not that easy to skate but no cereal bowl either. Does anyone remember that band Chavez? They were pretty good.

Dreamland has concrete down at Holly Farm, number 3 of 19 Portland skateparks and what I thought was the first example of the neighborhood skatespots. Although, by the definition on the Portland Parks and Recreation website, Gabriel Park also falls within this category. Skate spots include projects under 10,000 square feet. All this talk about meetings and feedback for new skateparks is now moot. Costco is selling The Ultimate Skate Park online, so it seems all we need to do now is order one. Attention city planners! If you live in a town with a population of more than 5 people, you might want to order a couple. And what product does Costco recommend you purchase with your new ultimate skate park? Why, a crappy BMX bike, of course. Skate and Annoy would like to give our heartfelt condolences to Dreamland, Grindline, Placed to Ride, Airspeed and others that will likely go out of business now that Costco has taken the guesswork and expense out of building the ultimate skatepark. – Thanks to Sarib Singh Khalsa for the tip.

A skatepark policy meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Fisher’s Grange Hall, located at 814 NE 162nd Avenue (just a few blocks from Pacific Park). Vancouver Washington area skaters should turn up for this meeting. Multiple sources report that the other meetings were 90% BMXers, which is great for them and embarrassing for skateboarders, especially considering the history of skater activism involvement in nearby Portland. Besides, when’s the last time you were asked to help make the rules at a skatepark?

Matt Kline told us about the 4th of July party session at the Port Orford, Oregon skatepark. We couldn’t make it, but Mrs Shoey (Lori) sent us these pictures taken by Kevin Sorres and Josh T.
