Dr Don Don
Skaters with elaborate painted faces spend the days and nights filled with suburban boredom. This is a side project from hip hop producer, Chasm I think this is a Dr Don Don tune called King of the Stars, but I can’t tell for sure because I couldn’t make it through the whole video. The costumes are the least annoying part of the video, but there is some actual skilled skating involved. [Source: Blastro] – Thanks (?) to Eric Cherry for the tip.
SLÄTTHULT or die
Keith Haring illustration of one of his iconic figures on a skateboard. They made playing cards at one time during his heyday, and now you can buy the stickers at Ikea. – Thanks to MC for the tip.
We’re famous?
Well, maybe not famous, but apparently semi popular. An anonymous tipster told me about our listing in the Urban Dictionary that dates back to 2006. I guess I don’t google myself enough. At least they got the order right… number one, as in we coined the term in 1985 and haven’t quit since! So suck it, 12 year old kid on Youtube! Check out “Example 3” from the listing, Example to #3: I went to a Kids Like Us show last night and Skate and Annoy was fighting people talking shit. That’s pretty funny. I think I’ll talk about S&A in the third person from now on. Skate and Annoy over and out.
I’m a 2 + 2 = 4 man
Mechanical skateboard rides are the new bounce house. They come in Canadian (top) and American versions too. Photos from Extravaganza Entertainment and Galaxy Multi Rides. – Thanks to Boy Ipoh for the tip.
Well? Hung.
Hung is a belt clip that holds your skateboard allowing for easy access. It’s another wacky skate device, but the inventors do have a point, if your board is on your backpack you have to take it off and unstrap it to be able to use it. With Hung you can hang it up and have both hands free. I’d hate to take a hipper on that thing though. Video after the jump, or help them out on Kickstart.
Pool build time lapse
A bit of stretch featuring this BMX only facility on Skate and Annoy once, let alone twice, but I’m a sucker for time lapse construction movies, and this spot is cool. Check it out after the jump, some before and during footage, and lots of footage of guys on bike – not skating but still killing it. – Thanks to MC.
Tony MoHawk
Grover used to love trying to fluster little kids at skateparks by asking them if they knew who Tony Mohawk was, or just shouting it out at random moments like an exclamation point. My friend Boneman lives in Colorado now, but when he saw this Tony Mohawk dog toy he immediately thought of me and yes you, the readers of Skate and Annoy.
Glennz designz
He’s Glenn Jones is a graphic designer and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand who operates under the name GLENNZ, which is derived from ‘GLENN’ and ‘NZ’ concatenated. You can visit his site and vote on which of his designs you’d like to see made into a t-shirt. Currently there are four skateboard illustrations in the mix. I don’t know where they disappear to after voting ends, so I’ve archived them after the jump. – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip
Skateboarding
In which I blather on about skateboarding, popular culture and other stuff, make references to old punk rock songs, inside jokes and pretend to be self deprecating. Mention DIY and other buzzwords, wistful words, appeal to the local fan base, fly the flag and remenisce about back in the day. Enjoy the weekend! – Thanks to everyone for the tip.
White Girl Wasted
White Girl Wasted by ElleMC, shot on location at Burnside by Dave Hupp. Hip Hop dressed as punk rock. Remember when you used to be able to tell what a band would sound like just by looking at them? I’m not complaining. Shut up old man! Video after the jump.
