Friday T&A on S&A: Boner Brigade
Actually, its Penis Peralta and Santa Crude by Billmund. [Source: The World’s Best Ever] – Thanks to M-a-t-t-h-i-j-s for the, err… Uhm, tip.
Machines for Skateboards
I thought these heat transfer machines were like 10k or something, but apparently they go for $3,500 to $5,500 depending on whether or not you want to transfer one side at a time or two. These guys sell everything. Skateboards, plastic skateboards, Griptapes and Hardwares [sic.], trucks, skate tools and yes, heat transfer machines. Machines for Skateboards was the title of the email they sent me with this image, so I thought I’d find out how much this stuff costs. Probably a bit higher in reality. I’m sure that doesn’t include shipping and import tariffs. Machines for Skateboards reminded me of the “Robot Skateboarders” in Screen Printing is Amazing, because it is. Alternate title: Heat Transfers are Marvelous.
Kick (flip) Glass
You know, kick glass, like kick ass, but it’s a skateboard, so it’s kick flip glass. Uh… I got nothing. If someone is doing something unusual or unnecessary, you can bet there will be at least two others doing it. Although for every two object d’art, there’s one item that more or less serves a purpose. These are skateboard decks made out of glass. Glass skateboards. Glass. This one and this one are set up with trucks and can technically bee ridden, while this one appears to be a serving tray for food. There are tips and there are tips. Boy Ipoh from SkateMalaysia.com tracked these down. All of them. Way to do my homework for me. Thank you.
How do you balance?
I can’t believe we haven’t featured a Bazooka Joe comic before, surely there has got to be other skateboarding Bazooka Joe adventures besides this recent one? Thanks to Kevin Cann for sending this in. It was last year I think, but spring cleaning finally paid off in the Kilwag household.
Man Wolf
This is old news, but it’s still funny. It’s the Macho Taildrop crew with a video celebrating the Man Wolf éS shoe. The product may be dead but the dub step lives on. – I can’t remember how I found this.
Pull your thumb out of your…
…pocket and play this tiny game of cards. Thumb Deck. – Thanks to Eric for the pic.
Better mousetrap department
Just a note to let everyone know that I will no longer feature imaginary magical skateboards that exist only in the minds and hard drives of aspiring industrial designers. There are just too many. Don’t even send them to me unless they actually exist, or are so amazing that they need to be seen (or ridiculed). – Thanks to Boy for the tip.
Coming out of the closet: UPDATED
That’s right S&A readers. I’m taking this opportunity to bravely throw off the shackles of oppression and let everyone know that I… Well, how do I put this? I like Ellen Degeneres. OK, her TV show doesn’t appeal to me but as a stand up performer and showbiz personality, I’m a fan of her. Ellen had Tom Schaar (no relation to Max Schaaf) on her TV show shortly after landing his 1080. Ellen’s is a bit out of her element, and it’s not a very interesting segment, but at least Tom got a few minutes of fame. Whoever came up with the idea of a mini-mega ramp for a live TV segment should be demoted. There’s nothing that makes for more exciting TV than watching a kid trudge up a ladder a minute for each second he actually spends on his skateboard. Fortunately, Ellen pulls shouts out a bunch of random skate terminology while this is happening. UPDATE: Tom landed a 1080 X Games Asia in Shanghai, China, beats Burnquist. Video after the jump. Psychic… Powerless…
last Monday we had a rude awakening with Off!. So it is in that tradition that I present this cartoon and apologize for greeting you with part of a Buthole Surfer’s album title. I guess that really wasn’t a way to make it any more palatable. The cartoon was found on an image aggregating site with no credits or source. It looks like it came from an adult magazine. Perhaps it was scanned by someone who lures less skillful players into competing against them at a gambling game. I thought I might have posted it already, since I remember seeing it quite a while back, but I couldn’t find it here on S&A. So the gag is, old people acting like teenagers! Hilarious.
Creative Miscellany
I understand the concept behind angled shelves. There’s no reason they absolutely have to be parallel to the ground to hold things. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a lot (or any) big empty walls and extra room to hold odds and ends. I’m hoarder and I need more efficient use of space for storage, so these type of arrangements never appeal to me, no matter how artfully done they might be. This looks forced to me, and yes, everyone’s a critic. See Taylor Hamilton for more. [Source: Shelterness] – Thanks to Boy for the tip.
