Remember Tillman the skateboarding bulldog? He passed away in 2015, but he had his moment of popularity. He appeared in iPhone commercials, in the Guinness book of Records, television news programs, and even as a spokesdog for Natural Balance pet foods. He also got to hang to with Rodney Mullen for some reason. I guess the reason is that Rodney’s nickname was the Mutt. And yes, I am clearing out my hard drive.
I had some photos saved on my hard drive from 2010, including this horrible cellphone shot of Natural Balance Tillman’s Training Tips.
They don’t make these anymore, but the internet remembers forever, provided you dig around enough. It looks like they made Tillman a custom skateboard for this photoshoot. That’s some lazy photoshop work on the implied motion blur.
How popular was he? They made a stuffed animal version of Tillman affixed to a plush skateboard. So popular that they had knockoff toys.
Somehow it’s a bit of a chore to track decent photos of this down. You have to finesse the search terms more than you’d think. This one is from a FunnArtz auction.
What’s up with this one? It is allegedly a Tillman product, but the board is missing the top graphic, and it;’ much shorter. Maybe a prototype or a knockoff.
Still fuzzy? Relive Tillman’s glory days. I’d link to this web site, but Tillman’s owner either let the domain name lapse or sold it to another party, and not it’s filled with unrelated material.
Here’s Tillman with Rodney Mullen.
