Crisis of Conformity

Speaking of Dave Grohl, here’s a video featuring Mr Grohl from last weekend’s appearance on Saturday Night Live. The bit is the father of the bride getting his old 80’s band back together to play one song at his daughter’s wedding reception. Turns out his old band was hardcore. The premise is not too far off from McGill’s latest commercial and MC’s comic. Fairly decent 80’s era hardcore imitation. Good band name too. Somewhere out there somebody in awe that SNL used thier band name in a skit. There’s got to have been a real “Crisis of Conformity” at some point. SNL on SNA. Check it out after the jump.

Some people have reported the video isn’t working for them, so you can also see it on hulu (for a limited time).

Or YouTube for an even more limited time period…

Funny, now some E-style chat: Apparently Grohl covered a Grant Hart song recently but put it on a single b-side, Hart was sorely disappointed that it wasn’t included on the album for royalties sake. The irony is that millionaire Grohl contacted the wayward Hart and was off the hook giddy and excited to tell him that he covered his song, but ultimately left Hart frustrated and empty-handed.

  2. I love the way Kilwag keeps plugging that comic that he came up with the idea for. Must be trying to pad out his gag writer resum

  3. Fred Armisen used to play in a band called Trenchmouth. They were kinda punk.

Corrosion of Conformity, first album 1984 – Close .
I have a tape from 1985 of my punk band playing at a house set to be demolished the next day, it sounded a lot like this skit. Sometimes the sound of aggression and destruction can be a beautiful thing.

  5. the drummers mic never works.

  6. well they picked the right year, probably Grohl there, ’83 was just enough time for everyone in the sticks to have seen The Decline and Flag tours. Suicidal and Kraut even got on MTV in ’83.

It’s some obscure, but quality, DC hardcore.
