Skate and Annoy: Daily

muppets

Muppets. In your face, until you’re sick of them.

So this started off as a follow up find to the other picture of Mr. Snuffleupagus on a skateboard, but of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone. It’s by no means the definitive Muppets skateboarding post, a good place to start for that is the Muppet Wiki. If only I could channel this enthusiasm and energy into my career…

Here’s the follow up to the original Mr Snuffleupagus on a skateboard post. I thought this was just a poorly executed version from a different series, but it turns out that it’s Alice Snuffleupagus, the baby sister of Mr (Aloysius) Snuffleupagus. A 1977 episode (1015) of Sesame Street, allegedly shows Mr Snuffleupagus riding a giant skateboard, but I haven’t been able to find the clip or a screen grab online.

This is the Happy Meal Muppets Babies version of Kermit on a skateboard that everyone seems to have. The skateboards from these turn up all over in eBay auctions, sometimes glued to the bottom of a random unrelated figure.

kermit

Here’s a weird one that i haven’t seen before. Kermit is sitting on a bucket on top of a skateboard for some reason. Maybe it’s a finger puppet.

kermit2

A collection of various Muppet toys on skateboards. I’ve got Baby Kermit, Mr Snuffleupagus, one of the Cookie Monsters, and Abby Cadabby, so it looks like I have more to go.

muppets2

No idea what this is from, it might be a poster. Muppet Wiki offers no explanation.

A ceramic figure of Ernie on a skateboard, circa 1993, even though the skateboard is closer to 1983.

Here’s a couple of Scooter action figure that come with a skateboard. That’s an awkward sentence out of context.

scooter-action2

This toy was released in 2003. Ihe skateboard looks like a… uh, “real” fingerboard.

Scooter was “pivotal” in bring skateboards to the Muppet Show. In episode 415 with Anne Murray, Scooter brings his skateboard to the Muppet Theater where just about everyone on the show ends up colliding or tripping on it. Although skateboarding is a constant sub plot, Muppets are almost always shot above the waist, so you don’t actually get to see a skateboard until about 20 minutes into the show.

A few minutes later, the only other time you get to see a skateboard is during one of many wipeouts on the show.

Here’s the full episode, while it lasts.

This is a Muppets Street Surfin’ electronic game that Tiger electronics released in 1990. It was for sale on eBay until I researched this post and let my OCD get the better of me. Check out the very rare appearance of wrist guards on Kermit.

Supreme released a licensed version of a Kermit skateboard in 2008. I guess you could say it was a pro model.

Lastly, here are a couple images from Kermit 365, a blog dedicated to photographing a Kermit puppet in the real world.

More Muppets skateboarding in the S&A achives.

Looks like a pretty definitive SnA Muppets-post to me. Your efforts are appreciated, Kilwag.
