Whew! I knew I’d like this band from the first time I saw them mentioned in Thrasher. I love girl groups, and I especially love girl groups who are brash and in your face like The Donnas try to be. The Bobbyteens succeed 100%! The singer, Tina, looks very much like Ricky Lake’s character (Pepper) in the John Water’s film Cry Baby, and the other 2 girls in the band, Lisa and Danielle aren’t far behind! A trashy 50s look with pedal pushers, satin jackets etc. The drummer, Russell is a champion NWO with a classic early 80s Rodney Bingenheimer do! The best thing is that they sound as good as they look! This is their 2nd album and they sound like The Donnas SHOULD sound. The Shangri-Las meets the Ramones. Great songs about sex, dating, high school and more sex. Sure it’s bubblegum, but it’s bubblegum that makes out with you, kicks you in the balls, comes home late and watches TV. This is my fave album of the last 6 months, and the wife loves it too! Highlights are “Young and Dumb”, “Do You Want Me”, and “Talk Talk”, although all the songs are great. Honestly, buy this. You won’t be disappointed. I would love to see these girls on MTV and watch Tina bitch slap John Norris! 11 glorious paens to teenage lust and rebellion set to a glorious, supercharged rock and roll backbeat. Awesome!

Recommended. This gets 9 stars.

You’ll like this if: you like music. If you don’t like this then you are stupid and should go back to your Pink Floyd records.
