Goodtimes: Safety First
A funny ad from Goodtimes Skateboards with photos and ad copy that seems to be lifted directly from safety chapter of one of those old 70’s era skateboard books. It doesn’t match anything in my library, so if you know which book it came from (if any) let me know.
Here at GOODTIMES Skateboards your safety is our primary concern.
Sometimes when attempting tricks with a high degree of difficulty such as a 180 or a tail skid, even the best skateboarders loose their balance. In a panic situation, it’s most important to concentrate on falling properly. Following these six fundamental steps can decrease a skateboarders chances of injury.
- Pinpoint the area of impact. A soft area is best.
- Approach with caution, and prepare to absorb the shock of impact by bending the knees
- Tuck down, and use your momentum to carry body weight over the top.
- From here on in, a proper fall, or “bail”, should mirror the stop drop and roll fire prevention technique.
- Roll smoothly on you back, keep limbs tucked.
- Focus on getting back to your feet.
Once this technique is perfected, you are ready to move on to more difficult tricks such as the 360 or the layback slide.
