I first I thought this was a gag, but now I’m betting it’s a carefully crafted fishing attempt to pad the email lists of Viagra spammers. And no, it’s not because I joined the site and got all kinds of spam. I didn’t get any after I joined… wait, I mean I didn’t join, I swear! Funny how if you reload the page, only women (ages 19 – 61!) are featured among the random “Real Member Profiles” featured. They also start repeating fairly quickly. I hate to link to this, because I’m sure it’s going to hurt our Google rankings, but here’s your chance to Date Skaters. I’m pretty sure some of them are posers.

On the plus side, a portion of the the sales go to Girl Riders Organization, but the flips side of this new web series is that it’s horribly paired with new “technology” that allows you click on an object in the video if you’re interested in buying it. I tried clicking on the fiance, but apparently she’s not for sale. It’s hard to take the episode seriously when so many of the shots seem awkwardly contrived for displaying a product. So much so that it seems less than… above the board. Kyle’s got some moves though, so there’s that. Check out Above Board.
Well, maybe not famous, but apparently semi popular. An anonymous tipster told me about our listing in the Urban Dictionary that dates back to 2006. I guess I don’t google myself enough. At least they got the order right… number one, as in we coined the term in 1985 and haven’t quit since! So suck it, 12 year old kid on Youtube! Check out “Example 3″ from the listing,

He ain’t gonna play Sun City, but he will travel back in time to pose in youth for a Circuit City email advert. I thought Circuit City went out of business. The funny thing about this is that the web link embedded in the email pulls up a version of Silvio without a skateboard. I mean, he looked kooky enough with the skateboard, but without it he looks like a mental patient. And Speaking of Little Steven, His Underground Garage radio show is pretty good. I heard an episode once a few years ago while traveling and I enjoyed it. As I recall, It was a mixture of old and new bands. I think it’s on satellite radio now too.

The audio interviews are flying. The “brain” behind Bacon Skateboards has a radio show on pdx.fm. He’s on the internet air live on Thursdays at 2pm Pacific time. He’s got five shows under his belt, most of the guests have something to do with skateboarding. He’s had George Cutright the current team manger from Adidas, and our own Mark Conahan. The interviews are only a half hour and are a good listen even if you have no idea who the person is. I’m working my way backwards through them. I made it to Jeremy Robert Johnson, which is a good one. I’m going to check out some of his books. The point is… GVK interviewed live today at 2pm.
