SOTW 12-29-08: Sign in Bowl

Squeaking in under the wire in the last few hours of the last day of the week, this week’s Shot of the Week is Billy Runaway at the Sign In bowl in LA, as shot by Peter Dietsches in 1990. Nothing says late, late 80’s like those Hamor Hed and Gouge logos. You might remember Billy Runaway in the early days of Thrasher. He now heads up Addikt Skateboards. Check out the full frame Shot of the Week.

I love the Madrid Fly print vans he’s wearing. I have been searching for a vintage pair like I had back in 89.

  5. Keith had a pro Model on Madrid back then but I am not sure what kind of trucks he was riding.

I’m gonna sound like the comic book guy on the Simpsons, but the other oddball/doomed-to-fail truck out at the time was by the San Diego Truck Company. Never actually saw a set of these in person. They had an indian head logo and looked just like the G&S trucks… Completely worthless trivia.

  7. Completely worthless trivia. – except now I really want to see some.

Skaterdave, I’ll look in my stash and forward a scan on to Randy. I think it’s in an ’89 Trasnworld. I even seem to remember a product review claiming they looked just like the G&S, but were somehow different, which I doubt. Lots of WTF moments reading those old issues.

Sorry to put this off topic. Let’s go back to talking about Keith’s Milli Vanilli do…

  12. I heard that Keith was big in Japan back in the day posing nude for their equivalent of Playgirl.

  13. It was Orange County
