Prefab rules New England

Ryan Hass writes:

Here is the answer to prefab in New England.  Back in 2000-2003 these parks were springing up all over the place.  Asphalt footers, huge cracks and terrible seams are par for the course.  Not to mention these objects are usually dropped into place with little or no thought about layout.

Suh-weeeet!

These pictures of a prefab concrete park (on an asphalt surface no less) are courtesy of Ryan Hass, who must of spent many hours shredding the hell out of this Amesbury spot. He said it was his favorite park in the whole world… No he didn’t. Click to enlarge.

to state the complete obvious… what a peice of shit.

  7. Scituate concrete is the company that makes those pieces of shit. What you can’t see in these photos is that the quarter pipes only go to 45 degrees, making it nearly impossible to get or maintain speed on them. Newport, RI has a “mini ramp” made with these things, but they didn’t bother to flush the bottom of the transition, so it’s almost impossible to skate the damn thing.

Oh, and the coping is recessed, so there’s no “bump” at the top.

shit looks fun…better than our prefab crap over on this side of the pond…

  9. Probably make a good, cheep bike park. You could still call it a skate park to trick em into using it.

The sad thing is that sh*t is permanent and the kids who live there have no chance to ever get something legit in the future. Scituate Concrete is a precast pipe and sewer drain manufacturer. They have no business building this junk.

  11. gather your friend and some concrete and DIY over the top of this stuff?

  12. The ledge in the left of the image is diy, Locals started pouring over some jersey barriers in the far back left of the image. The park is only 5 minutes away from the airspeed park in newburyport.

  13. rebar over it and invoice scituate for your money back,or i’ll knock on their door with a couple of guys that are about 6ft8.fuck scituate, enemy 4 life

  14. […] Although generally a bad idea, It’s not entirely unheard of unfortunately, and especially in New England. Sprague, Connecticut has a skateboard facility that was built on top of a disused tennis court, […]

  15. yeah to big tim, this used to be a shitty tennis court that stopped getting used, and the town got sick of the kids “ruining” ledges around the library so the town govt got the great idea that building the cheapest skatepark possible would stop those rebels
