Life’s a Beach – Mike Valleley

Oversized publication. 68 pages with a glossy cover and a mix of color and black and white matte paper inside. Beaz Lovelace on the cover, shot by Windy. A good first issue with good photos and interesting layouts. The overall vibe was cool but subscribing to a mag with so much BMX content was at tall order if your focus was skateboarding. Skateboarding on the cover. Content was fairly split but advertising was highly tilted towards BMX by about 3 to 1. There's a huge 2 page spread of Mike Smith at the Nude Bowl with an inset of a downhill bicycle race that brigs up the Action Now gag reflex. Note: BMX adverts are not included in this archive because there are too many and we don't care.
