Merry X-mas from Skate and Annoy

Merry Christmas from Skate and Annoy

If I could I’d have you all over for cocktails and fudge. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Ramadan, Kwanza, or Flying Spaghetti Day… Just be happy and enjoy yourself and your family and friends. Thanks to Rich for shooting this. He had a better shot but my beard was completely covering my face. Enlarge-o-rama. UPDATE: MC has a video clip.

Beaver on a skateboard

This Christmas ornament is from a company called American Greetings. This is their 2009 “Son” ornament, as you can see from the bottom of the beaver’s shoes. The hook is on one of his shoes, but he balances fine on his board without it. I managed to get a decent picture of this because I didn’t break it in the process, unlike the last time I photographed an animal skateboarding. Enlarge-o-rama.

Skateboard Raccoon

From Hallmark, circa 1985. I’m not sure who made the decision to have the Raccoon on a skateboard, but I’m glad they did. There’s a shot of the box after the jump. Depth of field is too shallow in this shot, but I dropped the ornament and broke the wheels right after I took this so that’s as good as it gets. It’s the day before Christmas and my tree already looks like it is about to spontaneously combust.

Ho Ho Jingle Bell

The global economy would like to take care of your skateboarding and holiday needs. 12″ Skateboard Santa Claus, moving Skateboard and will change direction automatically, with X’mas song ” Ho Ho Jingle Bell ” The annoying thing about the Alibaba.com web site is that there are no pricing details available on many of the products. You have to contact someone and I suppose, arrange to have them imported. Apparently they reuse the skateboard for just about anything… (Speaking of Missing Persons) I’ve seen this board on a Troll doll too. – Thanks to DaddyYo for the tip.

It’s martini time

I hate martinis, actually. Except on one occasion I had some chocolate martinis that were good. Real good. I like liquor in the form of girlie drinks. Cosmos, lemon drops, anything sweet. I wish I could say I had a few in me when I bought this “vintage” cocktail napkin off eBay. It was staring at me. Mocking me. If iwas in AA it would be mocktail-ing me. Still, it was a $2 “buy it now.” Right now there’s an unopened pack of 16 for $13. It says right in the damn listing that “This package of napkins is very collectible.” So it has to be. I mean, I collected one, so they aren’t exactly lying. I’d like to think this vintage napkin was of the vintage from when the office Christmas party was a punchline for a gag involving some poor schmuck with a lampshade over his head, and that would mean 60’s or 70’s if I had my druthers. Coincidentally, that was about the last time someone used the phrase “if I had my druthers.”

Xtreme-mas Nutcracker

My wife picked this up at Target for about $10. She buys things for me all the time with the understanding that I usually return them after photographing them, but it looks like this guy has found a permanent home here. It’s kind of weird looking and causes a lot of double takes from visitors. The “09” stands for 2009, as these things are supposed to be limited editions, but it with the helmet it makes him look like a football player holding a skateboard he stole from some skatepunk he beat up. Ah, nostalgia. Enlarge-o-rama. Alternate view after the jump.

Cyber Monday Xmas shopping

I didn’t make any posts on Black Friday, but this works better for Cyber Monday since you might have a hard time finding this in an actual shop. So why not pick up this limited edition Skull and Candy Cane board that is not actually a Blind send up, but something the folks at Powell Peralta cooked up. Out of character? Perhaps. Santa Cruz and Powell appear to be engaged in some sort of protracted nostalgia trench warfare. Get yours at SoCal Skateshop and elsewhere, I’d imagine. – Thanks to Eric Cherry for the tip.

Day after Xtreme-mas blues

Post-holiday depression? Here’s a video of Santa bombing some hills. I know it’s a day late, but it’s still funny that it comes from CNN via their iReport site. I like the concept for getting eyewitness news up faster, but lately CNN is getting more and more like AM talk radio. Seriously, who cares what some hothead in Iowa thinks about the mortgage crisis. If I wanted to watch amateur news I’d turn on Fox.
