It’s always amazing to see what the vert pros can do. Have you ever seen that triple stack they do with two skaters and a bicyclist in the Boom Boom Huck Jam? Still, the Invert on Andrecht about 45 seconds into this video over at Shred or Die is jaw-dropping. Check it out after the jump.

I should have titled this “Well, who doesn’t?” after the shot above. Anything I would write about it wouldn’t be as clever as what Adam (last name withheld, because his coworkers spy on him) sent: Digging the site as always. Helps out at work like you would not believe. I try to explain what I am looking at to my co workers and they are befuddled. While they eat giant lunches, I dip out for a session 2 blocks away from here: (Thanks Dan). Anyway, I meant to send these pics a while ago. I live in Seattle and moved in with my lady friend. My new apt. has a garage that is too small for my Wagoneer, but big enough for a micro mini. Enclosed are some pics of the construction in what I refer to as my MAN CAVE, then the christmas sweater party last year that had a couple of my sk8 buddies at to woo the guests. I am the kook with the tie. Dimensions are 32″H 6.5 W and 12.5 L. I think. It is fun as hell when you get used to it- keep the knees loose. Also, it is pretty much for winter/…

Jim Gray skated the Converse Costal Carnage ramp set up. As he says, barge now ask later. Jim’s friend Eric Lee snapped the pics of Jim skating, with Jim’s camera, so credit where credit is due means… I don’t know. I’ve got two bonus shots from the Baade, he says the ramp is the Red Bull miniramp with a an added bowl. It’s all modular and moveable. Hmmm… Interesting. Maybe some folks at the X Games should take note. Modular and reusable is better than temporary and partially recyclable. Either way, looks fun!

Sure, it looks fake, but that’s because it’s brand new and there is no frame of reference. The United States Ski and Snowboard Association has a training facility for Olympic athletes called, wait for it… The Center for Excellence. On the outside it looks like an outlet mall, but on the inside it’s got cross training equipment for snowboarders and skiers, including the bowl you see above, sent in by the folks at Skate Utah. From what I hear Charlie Wilkens designed and built the bowl with some input from asst. pipe coach Rick Bower. If you haven’t seen Bower skate during camps up in Hood, not only can he kill it in the snowtube, he can put a hurt on the cement. Super nice guy too. Back section is for boardercross crew to work on pumping rollers and carving corners; unfortunatley for the skicross guys, they’ll have to strap on the blades for same effect. This is one case where the Olympics and skating can work together. There’s a photo gallery at Universal Sports.

I should have guessed these guys were involved. The wave ramp at the Kiasma museum was another distinctive project from the collective known as The Side Effects of Urethane. This particular exhibit is called Aalto. TSEOU has images ranging from the concept phase right on through construction (time lapse video) and finally skating. One interesting thing about the design, it looks more like a boat under construction than a traditional skate ramp. Check out Aalto on TSEOU. – Thanks to Ian for the tip.

This week’s Shot of the Week comes from Chris Eggers and his web site sk8boarding4life. It’s bilingual (German and English) and features skate photos from his archives over the years. This shot is a Lance Mountain frontside invert over the channel at the Swedish skateboard summer camp in 1986. Check out this week’s Shot of the Week.

So the joke goes, (my joke, by the way) that zoning ordinances and building codes in Portland require that any mini ramp built on private property must have at least one extension that goes to within one foot of the ceiling, an over-vert section, or a three foot or smaller transition. Apparently those rules apply to Beaverton as well. My friend Marek built himself a miniramp in his garage with really tight transitions, and of course, pool coping. MC and I went to check it out the other night.

Poweredge just added some more back issues to the archives. I guess they are all back issues now. The image above is from an article about the closing and subsequent reopening of the Cedar Crest Ramp, which was a topic of discussion I overheard the other night while everyone was on deck watching Casey KC split his head open in the back bowl at DOS. Damned if that isn’t Portland’s favorite private bowl owner and former east-coaster Dave Tobin in the feature. Go to the Poweredge Magazine site and look for the link that says “MORE 9.88 .”

I found this on Dan Hughes’ Northwest Skater site. There’s a guy who had what looked to be a really nice miniramp in his garage. Not one to remain satisfied, he decided to tear it out and build some roundwall instead. I don’t know the owner, or where he lives, so don’t ask. Instead, just enjoy some pictures and videos, and think of what you can do for yourself. Thanks to Dan for letting me cop these.

Gotta love the midwest. It’s in the middle, you know? I’m not even sure what this is supposed to be, perhaps a practice mega ramp? Or maybe it’s the next big thing in ramp transition technology that will deliver the goods where the elliptical transition fad failed.
