Check out episode 1 of “Can it Skate,” a Jenkem Mag series. In this one they drop $500 on a pair of Gucci loafers and test them out. It’s an amusing segment, although they should have gotten more in-store footage and possibly ridden a Louis Vuitton skateboard. Yesterday there was a “Mass Thrash” instigated by Jivaro Wheels. No rules except for no social media before the event, pure word of mouth, and it was packed! Rich snapped this pic of me enjoying a little wall ride action with help from a small quarter pipe. He sent me all of them, including the bails, and since I’m not sure which is which, I’m going to go with one that makes me look good, but not the highest one because I know I didn’t make that. Out of frame it really was packed with participants. Catch one short Instagram video after the jump. There were cameras galore, including helicopters, so “real” coverage is going to show up eventually.

Once again time to put some of the actual “skate” in Skate and Annoy. The Empire Games are back at it again with Wall of Death, this time going for height instead of length. Phil Dulude had the high water mark at 15ft.

I become sick whenever I hear the words “war” and “desert” nowadays, so I almost decided not to post this very crappy board. The drawing has absolutely nothing to do with skateboarding,  besides that it takes us back to the early 90’s when this never-ending war started and skateboarding was about to die. Can somebody please explain to me how you could buy this for your kids? It’s still on sale for an explosive price on eBay.

A Lunchables print ad and some random Lunchables skateboard action on their web site from a year or so ago. In trying to link to the Lunchables Uploaded post with with Rob Dydrek, I realized I never posted anything about it. So.. yeah. Rob Dyrdek had a thing with Lunchables called Uploaded. It was a contest or a web site or a web series aggressively targeting 13-17 year olds, for the benefit of kid’s nutrition of course.

I was trying to track down a better picture of some Hanna Barbera saftey cards from 1965 because one of them has the hapless Magilla Gorilla pulling a classic wilson. In the process I found Magilla skating in an uncredited image that looks like a still from a cartoon. Casting the net wider turned up a coloring book with Huckleberry Hound and Quickdraw McGraw doubling up on a longboard.
