Spohn Ranch has begun building a new skatepark in the Dalles, OR. It’s a small 7,500 square foot street spot type park that will be 100% poured in place concrete. I don’t know how this one got past all the Northwest companies, but you know what they say about spilt milk. Catch some renders of the park after the jump.

Loaded up the Family for a 2hour plane ride to the land of the sun. Saw some fish some sun and some skateparks. Overall the california skaters were a lot nicer than I thought they were going to be. Thanks guys. It was nice to see the sun. Gloomy Grover out.

Bryce Kanights is releasing book in collaboration with his father Daniel, titled Moments through the Viewfnder. There’s an opening party at 220 Salon in Portland on Thursday. April 14th from 6:30pm – 10pm. Prints and books will be for sale. DJ MyG will be spinning tunes. father and son eh? That sounds pretty interesting, actually. Carhartt Europe converted a small ship in Hossegor, France to a bowl, or they made a bowl look like a ship, I’m not exactly sure. Old Man Army threw a BBQ and Confusion Magazine was there document it. Confused about about Confusion? Confusion has risen from the ashes Concussion:

Confusion is an underground skateboarding magazine with a primary interest in DIY skate spots and skater built concrete parks in local scenes all over the world. The magazine also covers sub-genres of these underground scenes with a partial focus on somewhat undiscovered music, art and hardcore surfing.

A posers day? I see some vaguely 80-ish fashion in this vid, but otherwise I don’t get it. What I do get is some massive expanses of roly poly concrete that looks ancient and awesome. So much wide open unprogrammed space… That looks like fun.

I’ve only seen one episode of American Pickers, a show where two guys travel around trying to score junk they think is worth some money. I wasn’t too sure they knew what they were talking about, and this clip doesn’t help out. These are hot right now. This stuff is so collectable… …This was an expensive board back then. This board was probably 75 bucks.” Ha! Less than $50, and is that a re-issued Grabke? If so, it probably costs… $75. They shoulda hired Neil for that one.

Fortunately, there is some marginal skateboard related footage in here so I can present it here on S&A without making excuses… except I just did. It’s a trailer for the 30 minute extended version of “Fight For Your Right Revisited.” The Beastie Boys have a forthcoming release called Hot Sauce Committee Part Two which is good news but holy shit, watch this trailer! Try to count all the cameos without getting whiplash, I dare you. I don’t want to spoil Neil’s next eBay Watch, but a Beastie Boys deck recently went for a ridiculous amount of money. There’s a buzz already. Er, uhm… check it. Did anyone catch Iggy Pop on American Idol last night?

Here’s a recently constructed house by the architecture firm A-cero out of Madrid. It’s got some nice transitions but the concrete looks a little rough in sections. Still, I’ve seen worse skateparks… That’s a crazy tight miniramp with an extra helping of vert surrounding the front door. More pictures on Freshhome. Nothing to do with religion, Highway Gospel is a documentary on the downhill and slalom race scene that has come of age (again) outside of and in spite of the mainstream skateboard industry. These types of underground skateboarding events harken back to the early years of Thrasher, if not before. Highway Gospel is part of the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto, Canada which runs from April 28 – May 8. From there the film heads west to the DOXA film festival in Vancouver to premiere on May 13th. Trailer after the jump.
