Meat does it!
“Vlees doet ‘t ‘m” translates to “Meat Does it.” This the skateboarding version of a series of stickers produced for the Meat Information Office (?) of the Netherlands. This sticker is about 3″ large and part of a large series featuring all manners of other sports. I couldn’t find a date anywhere, but it looks to be late 70’s or early 80’s. Nice astronaut helmet! – Thanks to David Maes for the tip, even if you did send it back in 2018!
Prongles. Once You Pop, That’s Great!
I’m stubborn and I refuse to rent music.. I still buy CD’s and MP3s. I have giant tubs filled with CD’s and my iTunes library has 35,805 songs in it. I usually set it on shuffle and quite often something will play and I won’t remember where I got it from. That’s what happened to me today when the Prongles jingle came up. It’s sassy hip-hop skewering of youth-target advertising from earlier times. It seems retro and new at the same time. Well, way back in 2017, when we had some idea of how bad it was going to get in the USA but were only seeing the tip of the orange iceberg, Cards Against Humanity had already had enough, so they launched a prank product that you could actually buy called Prongles, with the tag line Make America Crunch Again. That’s Brayden, the Prongles hog skateboarding on the can. Prongles and the pig mascot were allegedly influenced by Mr. Trump. Did you register to vote? If so, you should vote as early as possible!
Up Your Patch Game
Skate and Annoy has a patch, sure, big deal. No it is, actually, you should buy one. I just got these patches from long time friend of S&A known as Orezona. He’s got a side gig designing and producing limited edition patches and apparel. Most of them are taco-related, but a few choice ones fall under the Skate and Annoy purview.
Paul Rudd, Certified Young Person
A public service announcement by the state of New York and certified young person Paul Rudd. Stick around til the end, and wear a damned mask so we don’t have to keep talking about Covid 19. I wonder if Paul knows Lenny Wozniak.
Tony Hawk Unmasked on The Masked Singer
Tony Hawk performed on the The Masked Singer as the Elephant. Despite sticking to his 80’s roots, singing Friday I’m In Love by the Cure, he lost the round and was unmasked. The takeaway from this is the fact that it’s 2020 and we’re still making additions to Gratuitous Tony Hawk appearances. Looks like he enjoyed himself.
Dreamland Goes Rogue
Rogue Beers out of Newport Oregon has teamed up with Dreamland Skateparks to produce a beer and a skateboard. A portion of the proceeds go to “building skateparks around the world,” which could mean anything, but the important thing is, beer, and Dreamland Skateparks. [Source: Dreamland Skateparks]
Gator Granted Parole, DA will Appeal Decision
The parole board has tentatively grantees Mark “Gator” Rogowski parole based on a combination of circumstances including his remorse, completion fovea various rehabilitation programs, and a new law affecting offenders under the age of 26, related to brain development studies. He has not been released yet. The board has 120 days to make the decision final, and the DA plans to appeal the decision. Gator is currently 53 years old, and plans to live with his brother while working as a paralegal clerk. More information can be found at ABC 10 News San Diego. He’s been in prison for about 25 years. Is he rehabilitated? Does he deserve another chance? Meanwhile, Vision still sells a Gator deck… – Thanks to Mark Sellman for the tip.
Scumbag Thieves Targeting Portland Skateshops
A 3 man crew of hardcore assholes is targeting Portland skate shops. The jackasses pulled 3 smash and grabs in the past couple of weeks. The losers targeted Cal Skates Skateboards, Commonwealth Skateboarding, and most recently, Smart Collective. These are small business owners who are being hit. Someone in the greater Portland Metro area, Oregon, or Washington knows who these lowlifes are. Turn them in. If you are near any of the affected shops, consider dropping in and making purchase to support them.
The Pink Panther: Mexican, Japanese, Well Groomed, Puzzling and Animated.
It’s a Pink Panther jumbo post! – Thanks to Cool Steve for 99% of this.
Whatzit Man
These are movie posters from the 1992 movie Encino Man, or “California Man” as they called it in France. I’m not sure what the Thai translation is. I’m not sure if Brenden Frazier actually rides a skateboard in the movie, and I’m not about to go watch it and find out. A quick search for Pauly Shore on a skateboard turns up one animated gif that may be from the movie, who knows. Quality stuff right here on Skate and Annoy. I kid you not. – Thanks to Claude Queyrel for the tip.
