Skate or Die: Nike shoes modeled after 20 year old video games
Shoe fetish. I don’t get it. I’m only mentioning it because it’s a good excuse to post a bunch of shots from the home version of Electronic Arts’ Skate or Die video game that came out in 1987. This isn’t even Nike’s first shoe inspired by or in tribute of 80’s skateboard video games. If they really wanted to do a tribute shoe, they should re-issue the red and black canvas Air Jordan’s that everyone wore while skating and playing video games. If you think skateboard forums are annoying, you should check out some of the sneaker forums where users have tons of Google ads in their signatures as well as bad Microsoft Paint graphics about how the user and/or their crew rules and everyone else deserves a beat down. Awesome community you’ve got their. Makes the comments on SnA look like one big hippie love fest. A little bit of shoes and a lot of Skate or Die after the jump.
MCPS
I had versions of myself from various points in my skateboarding career but I couldn’t find that memory card. I haven’t played in a long time.
The Tony Hawk ornament and other X-mas mysteries.
The sketchy Tony Hawk Christmas ornament was actually a McDonalds Happy Meal toy with a string attached. Danimal’s mom sent him an awesome elf skateboarding on a leaf. World Industries sells these elf sized skateboards that come packaged in a Christmas stocking.
Helmets are for…
Paranoia will destroy ya! We get catalogs sent to my house with all kinds of questionable and mostly overpriced crap for kids. A while ago my wife pulled out a page with a soft baby helmet and I shelved it until I got another email from Grumpy Joe that had a link to another soft helmet for adults and kids. Joe and I are in agreement on the best part of the marketing for these things: ProtectaCap® custom-fitting soft protective headgear is ideal for children and adults who refuse to wear protective headgear. Ok Ok, let’s not shoot fish in a barrel. I thought it was absurd until I realized that they are actually talking about other soft helmets for people with certain medical conditions. What conditions? Craniectomy, craniosynostosis, seizures, cerebral palsy, head banging, balance disorders, post surgery, hydrocephalus, shunts, microcephaly, Special Olympics, hemophilia, Parkinsons, Huntingtons, autism, and traumatic brain injuries. And let’s see, my two year old has gotten some pretty gnarly head gashes around the house. Still, I’m not going to make my three month old wear one of those. Check out the Bumper Bonnet (left) and the ProtectaCap, whose parent company is Plum Enterprises, has a web…
Can you move?
Another webcomic that references skateboarding. I like scooter-brat and mullet-guy in the background. I’m thinking maybe the guy skates? Imagine, wearing costumes to the skatepark for an art project.
Monkeys and a typewriter
If you give a monkey a typewriter and an infinite amount of time, it will eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. It looks like someone is looking to hire a blog monkey to write about skateboarding: I am seeking someone to write 35 unique 200-250 word Blog Articles related to skateboarding (art of skateboarding, current famous boarders, the skateboard itself and/or its parts). Your bid should be for writing ALL 30 Articles, not a per Article price. Writers must have complete command of the English language, including sentence structure, spelling, grammar, and must be able to write from a North American perspective. Having used a skateboard and/or at least familiar with the skateboard “lingo” is a must. As the articles are to be used to achieve high rankings in search engines, we require unique, high quality, well-written, keyword-rich, spider-friendly Articles. Keyword density should hover around the 5% mark. I can’t wait to see the web site this these articles get used for. I’m sure those high search engine rankings are going to be used for the love of skateboarding and not to try and sell us some crap. Are you applying for this job? The Minneapolis Star Tribune promises…

Uh.. Barney skateboarding.
I caught this Cocoa Pebbles commercial with Barney skateboarding by accident. The transmission switched to another commercial before this one was actually finished, but I got most of it. If anybody has the full version, please let me know, because there isn’t enough coverage of Barneys skateboarding…
Helmet safety for the kiddies
With all the recent posts about Jake Brown and those parents in Medford being idiots indicted, this helmet safety video from Danger Rangers couldn’t have come at a better time. Danger Rangers is horribly cheesy cartoon designed to teach kids about safety. How cheesy? It looks like they spent more money on animating their web site than they do on an entire season of the cartoon. This particular episode’s theme was helmet safety for skateboarding, and it centered around the “Go Games” extreme sports contest. A lot of the cartoons that have skateboarding episodes tend to have X-Games knock-offs as a plot device. I’ve pulled a few highlights, including the awesome music video for “Wear Your Helmet” after the jump.
Never Mind the Bollocks: Side one, track five
It has come to our attention that some users are not experiencing the full glory of Skate and Annoy as it was intended. You should be seeing (left) three columns side by side, but it may be showing up (right) as one column stacked on top of two columns. Problem is, I can’t replicate the error, and I’ve tried it with multiple machines, even on Windoze…. Take a minute and leave us a comment if you are seeing it the bogus way on the right. Please include the web browser you are using (version if possible) and what operating system version. Also helpful.. how long has it been that way?
