Awesome vs. Imagination

The same guys that brought you the Board of Awesome, an electric skateboard controlled by a Microsoft’s Kinect hack, are back with the Board of Imagination which uses brainpower instead of body gestures to make the skateboard go. Both are interesting exercises. You might think the second one was much more of a scientific leap, but you can buy brain powered toys at Target and whatnot. If you’re going to power your skateboard with electricity, you might as well wear headgear instead of carrying the remote. I almost ran over a guy on an electric skateboard a couple weeks ago. He was moving kinda fast and was unexpected. But then again, it might have had something to do with my California stop.

– Thanks to everyone who sent them both in.

Awesome

Imagination.

I’m calling bogus on the “brain power”, on both the toys and on the imaginary skating powers. I have a headband that one wears at night to prevent teeth grinding, that beeps when it electrically senses muscle activity in one’s temples… and I suspect that that is all that the Target toys and this board of bullshit are doing. If you furrow your brow with concentration… beep!

    1. In fact, if it is indeed just a heightened-temple-muscles-activity EKG circuit closer, that qualifies this as sk8tploitative crap that makes their “We’re smarter than you” slogan look like it dunt even apply to skaters. And, makes them look like bigger kooks than the sheet flying downhillers and the replica hover board purveyers and, hell, even the Sublime boards guy.

  2. And don’t even get me started on “Apple: Lowering fidelity one scam at a time”, and the ersatzness of MP3. Fight the power, dudes….
