Two new indoor spots in Portland

Up top is the Epic Snowboards shop at NW 23rd and Vaughn in PDX. It’s actually sharing a space with a scooter shop – Vespa Portland. This ramp used to be in the Grenade facility, which I believe was somehow associated with the now defunct Office. Regardless, I think this Saturday the doors are open for free durning the grand opening celebration featuring DJ’s and bands, etc.. but I can’t be sure because the flyer I got was illegible. When I get more info I’ll update this post. In the meantime, you can check out some construction pics courtesy of Mike Estes after the jump. UPDATE: Added the flyer.

On the bottom is an indoor ramp at Rip City Skate, also in Portland. This one has been dormant for a while, but reportedly will be done in about a month.

  1. looks like fun, needs more concrete coping!

  2. Hurray,
    No more DOS

  3. More tranny to shred in P-town!

  4. fuck grenade. they made bad decisions and fucked over good people. get it while you can over at “epic snow”, don’t see that place staying around for too long…..

  5. I agree on both the grenade comment and the “not staying around long” comment. Word has it another fine skate shop , although epic aint no skate shop, is closing its doors due to the poor economy. Looks like fun !

  6. Oh wait. After further investigation I stand corrected. Epic is NOW a skate shop aswell. oops.

  7. What did grenade do to fuck other people over and what skate shop is going out of business?

ya i got a flier for epicindoor at powell skatepark oneday but i looked it up and it only shows 1bowl is their anything else or that it, before i spend fucken 10$ or 94(with coupon) i wanna know if im getting a bum p[acked bowl session or not.. o

  10. They lowered the price. One very spacious bowl and a a flat area with boxes and ledges. You can have a look before you pay. I found it to be moderately fun and not too crowded midday on a rainy Saturday. I liked the brick coping corner. Concrete coping most of the way around.

  11. not even, its $5 for the day, no session times like DOS. the people there are super friendly and chill. plus they do these deals n shit. like ive got all these free pass coupons for Epic. and there making more room on the side of the bowl after the scooter situation is figured out and putting in a couple rails. a mini ramp type thing, a wierd metal ledge thing, smooth kicker, and an elevator ledge…

  12. “…after the scooter situation is figured out…”

here, i can figure out the scooter situation right now.

    no scooters.

  13. Bailgun: the dude is a Vespa dealer.

  14. Anyone know if they fixed the kink at the bottom of the tranny yet? It is a fun bowl, but a bit too much “character” with the reinforcement issue it has.
