3 wheeled electric skateboards

Three electric eclectic wheels

We did wacky Japanese skateparks today, so next up is wacky French three wheeled electric skateboards from the same people who brought you the Girls Allowed Here photo set. It’s called GroundSurf, and of course there are Chinese and Taiwanese knockoffs.

GroundSurf

GroundSurf looks like it was launched at least as early as 2006, but must not have come to much because the web site is still “Under construction” and the parent company (?) Ratleads is just a link to GroundSurf. Boyington has a Flickr set devoted to the GroundSurf.

Last year the tech geek blogs were excited about GroundSurf because the controller worked via Bluetooth. Why would anyone care what wireless protocol the controller used? I suppose it would be possible for someone to program a phone to control it.

Hold the phone. Maybe the curtain hasn’t dropped on the GroundSurf yet. This is from Gizmodo UK

The GroundSurf will first roll out in 2008, distributed by California surf brand Gordon & Smith for retail price of between $1770 in $2040.

Gordon & Smith? Really? the G&S site seems to be mum, but news is also supposed to appear on Longskate in Paris.

Here’s two odd videos.

The knockoffs.

Wireless, with rollerblade wheels. Pretty!

Not sure if this is wireless, but it sure looks heavy.
