Xerox Eyelids

There is Xerox on the Insides of Your Eyelids

There is Xerox on the Insides of Your Eyelids is the title of the skate art show happening this month at Needles & Pens gallery in San Francisco.

An art exhibition exploring the realm of 1980s Skate Zines & Xerox Art featuring the zines and art of the original makers with work from : Garry S. Davis (skate fate), Tod Swank (swank zine), Thomas Campbell (joke), Chris Johanson (karma boarder), Andy Jenkins (bend), Bernie McGinn (tiki), Kevin Wilkens (7 zine), John Dettman-Lytle (naughty nomads), Mark Waters (408), Rich Jacobs (skate-edge), Jocko Weyland (elk, revenge against boredom, author of: the answer is never), Dennis Remsing (rem zine), Dan Esabrook (contort), Tim Kerr (Big Boys), Chris Shary (burly obsession zine-uk), Ron Cameron (dope zine- a blockhead mag, and skate slate), Mofo (thrasher mag photographer ), Rodger Bridges (grim ripper, powerhouse, dancing skeleton zines)

Dang, I have a bunch of those zines and know some of those cats… Still something is missing… oh yeah Kilwag and Skate and Annoy! Fine! Be that way. I’m going to take my toys and go home.

– Thanks to GSD for the tip.

  • Looks cool, but I am sure some of our stashes are just as compelling!

  • A

Yeah, just not as historically relevant. Some of the great names from the “Golden Age” of skate zines are in there. Kind of like the golden age of comics, or whatever, not necessarily better than what came later, just laying the foundation for it.

Or did you mean, you have just as good of a collection? Perhaps another way to look at it. I’ve got several of the zines pictured in my collection, some of the same issues in fact.

Hey, let’s talk it to death! I’m game!

sorry, it isn’t complete without Skate and Annoy. I mean we started the “Tony Hawk is dead” rumor for chrissakes!

  • You are thinking too much kilwag!

  • where’s Kent on this one…?

  • ..Yes another entry in the long history of snubs for S&A. Neil you should challenge Jocko Weyland to a cage match.

  • What about the virtual god of all skate

  • oh hi- i curated this show ,and just wanted to say that if you(skate and annoy) or anyone has zines from then- send em to me. originals or copies but originals are better..if you have any spare ones laying around or in a box…come on you know you have a box of zines in your closet or storage. this show is gonna travel around alot so look out for that..london new york ,denver los angeles ,chicago, portland, maybe japan….so definitely don’t cry about missing this one and send something….there are lots of photos of this one on the weird old web…..get off your butt and make a new one too…don’t use a computer, unless you need to..looks better without usually…ok thanks rich jacobs-7 buena vista east ave sf ca 94117
