Carhartt Mongolian Tyres

Chinese skateboarding. No controversy

Carhartt is a work wear company that for some reason has a large presence sponsoring skateboard events in Europe, but is invisible here in the USA. Invisible except for the fact that you’ll see a lot of Carhartt being worn by some of the crews actually building skateparks over here. Mongolian Tyres is a skate video of a Carhartt sponsored skate trip to Mongolia. It’s about 38 minutes of mostly street skating totally ghetto spots in China without a lot of attitude. Very refreshing. I don’t know any other details like release date etc, except that it’s worth the watch. Chompy, why aren’t you all over this? Watch the vid after the jump.

  • there’s also a book that goes with the dvd, or they are companion pieces or something. the book is good though… rugged spots for sure.

  • wouldn’t a mongolian skate trip consist of skating totally ghetto mongolian spots. Just sayin. i don’t think they were in china. I don’t think China is that ghetto.

Yeah, possibly. It’s my ignorance of world geography. I though Mongolia was a region in China and not it’s own country. Too lazy to look it up on Wikipedia.

  • 1 in 5 Americans can’t locate America on a world map, I recently found out from news radio. Mongolia is no big deaaaaal! I thought Mongolia was part of China, too.

  • Isn’t Mongolia a disease that causes one to push with the front foot?

  • carhart europe makes more street style clothing. kind of like stuff you see from oakley.

  • You can view a lot of the photos from the book here: http://highsnobiety.com/features/dirt_ollie/index.htm

    Congrats by the way!

  • unfortunaly carhartt europe don’t sell original carhartt usa products. they only licensed the american name to put it on their own products, which are not made in the usa, unlike many original carhartt clothes. instead its made in far east.
to be fair, they don’t just make more cash this way, they support many music/arts projects. in the end this is a classic strategy to build up their brand credibility (think nike), but at least they put some money in again.
