Slightly tidier graffiti

Donald skatepark tarted up

So Donald has a new paint job and It looks real nice in photos but guess what? It’s slippery again. I think the artists who take it upon themselves to paint the place now and then should stick to canvas.

  • It just needs to be ridin a little bit. It’s fresh paint. it has a sheen to it that prevents a certain amount of abuse from the elements before it deteriorates. Like any skatable surface that i’ve painted in the past, people complain of the slickness until it gets a couple good sessions and a good rain.

    Be careful for a bit.

Looks cool. Special kind of paint?

  • Not really. It Sherwin Williams Superpaint with a Satin finish. It’s more durable than flat paint, but it does remain slick for a while and a little shiny. The best thing for that place would be a water-bourne epoxy paint. real durable, not so slick. only cost between $65-90 a gallon compared to the stuff we used that ran me about $65 total.

I love the picture above. It almost looks like a painting.

  • So how much paint does it take? Maybe we could find a way to buy the good paint next time. SPS?

  • Takes just under 5 gallons, but epoxy paint may have a different coverage rate. It’s probably the same amount. I’ll do a little research.

  • funny thing i painted some skate able stuff before (Tim Kula’s Bowl)and I found that the indoor FLAT latex paint works best.
Personally i go for the “oops Paints” because they are cheaper.
you just have to get a bit tricky on your design and work with what is available.

But yeah the indoor stuff actually wears out faster witch is a good thing. it was also stickier than broken in skate lite.

  • I only paint that thing to make dudes bummed. Same with painting or powerwashing Burnside.

Also, both involve a color / paint selection process that includes the following criteria: That’s what was made available.
