Louisville Kentucky Bluegrass Aggression Session - 88

Bluegrass Aggression Session 1988

There once was an NSA contest in Louisville Kentucky called the Bluegrass Aggression Session, and nobody came to watch it. Somehow they let me on floor to take pictures during the practices and prelims. There were other guys from organizations like Lapper Magazine, Stuf, and even a certain GBJ. There was a monster vert ramp and a street course as well. On the left we have Eddie Reategui, and on the right we have the same obstacle, different viewpoint. Skater unknown. Full frame and enlargements after the jump.

One day I’ll get around to making a gallery of these shots. Until then, click the pics to enlarge.

That’s a good amount of vert, at least 4 feet. What is N.S.A. you ask? Why, it was the National Skateboarding Association, run by Tony Hawk’s dad, Frank Hawk.

this happened close to my hood. we snuck in for the practice bc we were 16ish and found a way in. as we were watching, security came at us. somehow Cab showed up and told them we were with him. such a great guy. thx to Cab x10000 forever.

natas and gurero shwed up to one of our vert ramps after. the 1st mctwist happened, and inspired all of us to be more fearless. these guys from Cali had never seen fireflies, so in poor judgement, we gave them a big fat red wiffle ball bat. when you hit them it is akin to a tiny green meteor. i woulnd do that today, but a good memory. we snuck in to freedumb hall because we were the nieghborhood kids knowing how to get in…. as we watched the practice sesh, security came to boot us, but Cab magically appeared and said we were with him. eternal thanks to Cab for being such a nice guy.

I was at that contest and there were so few people there that I had the run of the place. Got to skate the ramp and every piece of the course and hang with all of the pros (I was a “sponsored am” at the time). Great time. Wish I could remember more. Thanks for posting the pictures!

    • I remember that… In fact, Hawkeman, you signed my red mini and gave me your blue full-size that you skated there. I still have both. Thanks again.

Sorry, I can’t help you there. If I had to guess I’d say the Skate Escape came second, but that’s not really based on anything other than a gut feeling.

  • Kilwag,

was wondering if you remember the date of this. I am trying to figure out which contest came first, the Vision Pro Skate Escape, or this.
    Thank you,
    Andrew

Hmmm. Could be. That’s a good guess. The giveaway is if I can recognize him in any of the other shots. I’ll take your word for now. Do those look like Thunders?

  • Pretty sure the skater in the right pic is Natas.
