I was going to make this kid the annoying kid of the month, but I dug his attitude and homemade board with an 80’s fish shape and no kicktail whatsoever. Completely flat. He rolled into the mouse hole and rode around doing those weird turning airs that come with the skyhooks territory, except he had the home made kind made from an innertube. That’s one of the oldest tricks in the book, and it made me smile. When I looked at pictures I noticed that due to the layout of the park, I almost caught a nice kickflip picture in the background by accident. Check it out after the jump.

These are pretty durable, you can even squash down on them and they just spring back up with no crack or damage. Just keep an eye on the duct tape on the rails as they can get shredded and ripped from scrapes on the ground.

I’ve been riding and tuning sky hooks since it was invented on my island of the big island of hawaii since the 1970’s so I got them dialed. I’ve tried straps but they’re dangerous because it’s harder to bail out of. But since the originals snap easily I make mine out of mashed, trimmed with a cutting shears(scissors) and gorilla duck taped on a pair of empty plastic simply lemon Ade juice bottles from target stores.

Sky hooks are the most f ing amazing things ever! You can blast insane airs on any ramp from jump ramps to vert ramps. All you need to do is space the exactly 24″ apart.(shoulder width) Put the rear one about a1/2″ from the edge of the tail, move the rear truck ahead about 1″ by redrilling the deck and mounting the truck. Then with the longer tail it will feel more normal and safer. It’s okay if the front sky hook is up on the nose kick just make sure that it is at an angle that matches the angle of your normal comfortable riding stance.

There’s too much hater opinions that bring the skateboarding vibe down. Why can’t they accept that everyone is a unique person and respect their creative contribution to skateboarding.
