Skate and Annoy: Daily

Wet cleanup on aisle three.

Here in the Pacific Northwest we have a chain called Fred Meyer. It’s a combined supermarket and department store: food, clothes, plants, hardware, electronics, film processing, pharmacy and sporting goods. I had a good laugh in the sporting goods section one morning. Did you know Flowboards were being sold under the Kryptonics label? Get yours for $60. $19.99 completes! I actually picked up a couple of those plastic helmet mohawks because they once came to me in a vision.

Sorry about the crappy phonecam images.

Hot Topperz
I wasn’t sure my helmet had a top hole so I bought two of the Hot Topperz even though I am more than five times too old for this product to be safe. They had Prussian helmet spikes too. The packaging says Make a Statement! in three languages.

Kryptonics Flowboard
Wasn’t the Flowboard originally a snowboard simulator? What’s with the tiki cannibal graphics? Find out for $59.99. No sales tax in Oregon.

Fred Meyer skateshop
So many choices, I can’t decide!

I saw a kid at Pier Park last night with one of those tiki Flowab boards. He wasn’t doing anything but rolling around. After about 15 minutes he left to do pretend martial arts in the grass with his friends. He had matching canes with curved handles and his friend had two sticks. They were playing ninja and obviously had no training other than possibly seeing it in a comic book or cartoon.

  • im probably gonna move to st johns my friend has a room for rent there(a mile from pier park). I pretty much drive all over the state to sk8 its getting kinda old its totaly worth it it just gets tiring,

  • I skated the Roseburg park last time I was there. It had been raining but it was dry enough to skate. There were guys ripping though. I had fun but it has it

  • Hey MC These roseburg kids that rip really f-in hard they say “frontside indy” I havent corrected em yet. I thought about it and decided it wasnt worth it. well actually i think i told one of the real youngins about the history of the indy air and duane peters and i think he was actually really interested but whatever it does definately annoy me when people say “frontside indy”. I guess u probably know our park is right behind “fred meyers”

although, it is a shame to know that airwalk is now owned by payless shoes. And which corporation actually owns Vans now?so till Cold War sells out to S-Mart, i will keep riding whatever shoe the local shop is selling on discount this week. In the meantime you can purchase my new “How To” video on Skate Shoe Maintenance. It includes such tips and tactics as Ducttape 101, Shoe Goo for U,Recycle Your Old Shoe into Lace Savers, and the advanced class on Complete Off-Sole Restoration*. Available now on VHS or Beta for the incredibly low price of $79.99

*note:this class requires a pre-requisite knowledge of welding

  • Team emoticon? I’m off too. Last night I saw an internet post where someone actually spelled out “slash” as in publisher-slash-artists. When people say

  • A

That’s OK, Joesf, you’re just kicked off the team is all. 🙂

Someone please shoot me, I just made an emoticon.

hey some airwalks may have looked bad, but what other company ever made an honest effort to design a skate shoe that could actually withstand the punishment of skateboarding. maybe i’m wrong, but i’m pretty sure Airwalk was the first company to have lacesavers on their shoes. nothing more frustrating than blowing out a brand new pair of 80$ ‘skate’ shoes that cant take one fuckin session of vert skating. i am fairly certain that vans started the unholy trend of signature shoes with thier ‘Cab’ series, so fuck Vans Inc., sorry Randy

Airwalk boards? Nice. Remember when Airwalk first came out? Those shoes were so horrible looking, like if your grandmother decided to knit you a radical sweater. They looked like toy knockoffs of vans. Fuck that company.

Cheapie – Krown Skateboards? I wonder how Florida’s Crown Skateboards feels about that, or if they are even around anymore.

I need to get some Hot Topperz. I wonder if they sell them at Hot Topic?
