Poweredge Magazine

I can remember being stoked when Poweredge first came out in the late 80’s. It seemed like a little bit of Thrasher and a little bit of Transworld. More importantly, it was something different, and it seemed fresh and authentic and not just something cobbled together by outsiders jumping on a bandwagon. I remember meeting a couple of the Poweredge staff at a few of the higher profile skate events in the Midwest, and they were all friendly and without attitude. Needless to say, Poweredge folded in 1991. but like R.A.D. before it, Poweredge has shown up online. Right now it’s just some history and selected parts of the first issue. The interface is a bit wonky, but sometimes it’s better to forge ahead instead of waiting for another five years to pass while you make everything perfect. Believe me, I’ve been there.

Check out Poweredge Magazine online.

And on another note. The site has been relatively inactive lately because I’ve been ill and I’m finally recovering, so expect the pace to pick up. Thanks to everyone who contributed in my absence.

I’ve got a couple of copies of Lapper. I should put them up some time. Davoud once said that Lapper was a major inspiration for Concussion.

Thanks for the PowerEdge post. I just emailed the guy. I had about 5 weeks ago scanned in the whole Issue #1 ads and all, but never posted it up on CD.

Too bad I got rid of all my other Power Edge issues, I had some stuff show up in there in a couple of weird ways… any one got the one with the Grosso interview? I’d like to see that one… A couple of ramp photos are from the ramp I help build long ago.

I have something I need to get off my chest. It is not easy for me to be sentimental but here I go. You guys make me feel good about early grabbing all of my airs and spending all day skating the ramp. It is nice to know that their are other peole who still get excited about learning inverts and standup grinds in the bowl. Thanks Skate and Annoy. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go do some layback airs and frontside rocks. Then I’ll probably drink myself to sleep. Skate and Annoy, mutherfuckers.
