bronzed skaters

Our research department looked into the similarity between the skater sculpture in Naperville , Illinois and the one in Milton Freewater, Oregon. We found a few additional examples, but no catalog yet. Apparently sculptors are also over the handplant.

L to R: Bronze Boy on a Skateboard by the people who brought you the Bronze Girl on a Skateboard previously mentioned on SnA,
Ollie the laurels,
Naperville, Illinois example,
Skater Boi in Albuquerque, NM,
Czech triumphal skateboarder,
The Milton-Freewater skater.

BBOS-BGOS

If you think of art as knicknacks or tchotchkes to be sprinkled around your city or garden because of your horror vacui, you might find what you need from Krupps.

czech triumphal skater

On the other hand an image of a skateboarder might inspire or at least provoke: what on earth is a triumphal skater figure doing there? - similar in some ways to the BBOS but so much more dignified.

how is it possible for these sculptors to study the body positioning, clothing wrinkles, etc. of skateboarding, but they always fail at getting the actual skateboard to look right?

They have another one at the Wilmington NC skatepark.

isn’t the Wilmington, N.C. sculpture made out of spare car parts and miscellaneous metal pieces?

My thoughts exactly. The skateboard always seems like an afterthought.

    Love the bottom left one.

I didn’t know Han Solo skated. I guess the carbonate aged him down a bit.
