A dead body found in a skatepark, as seen in the trailer for the 2013 film Blood. Another post I was sitting for years, and for no apparent reason. Apparently even in Europe the skateparks attract a bad element.

Do the funky snake

Kevin Live found this funky snakeboard variation in a thrift store for 8 bucks and decided not to buy it. I don’t know how he was able to pass on that amazing alternative truck technology.

Skipper is a sporting girl

Editor’s Note: I found this post draft from 2012… I wonder what I was waiting for.

She may not be an actual sporting girl, in the Deadwood era meaning of the term, but Skipper is still an expensive date. $139 on eBay, which is ridiculous, but this old Barbie spinoff toy regularly goes for that kind of money. This doll’s name is Fluff actually, she’s Skipper’s playmate. “Fluff is a sporting girl” was just a bit much. Besides, she’s already been covered.

For any occasion

Avert your eyes from this advert found in the June 21st, 2015 edition of the NY Times magazine. Brian and Brody are sporting their finest for Father’s Day. Countess Mara makes accessories for any occasion, as long was the occasion calls for a tie or a bowtie. Send them your skate photos, you could end up in their next national advertisement.

Noted photographer, skate/surf film and TV historian Scott Starr has been diagnosed with Menieres Disease. He’s also considered a find of the site. I have featured his digital transfers of archival footage her on S&A over the years under the banner of “Saturday Starrs” and I’ve bought a few comic books from him that have also graced the pages of S&A. Skip your Starbucks for a day help Scott out via a GoFundMe campaign that his sister set up.

Lexus behind the Hoverboard curve

I think someone in marketing forgot to tell the decision maker at Lexus that the “real” hoverboard viral marketing campaign has already been done. It’s barely been a year, and since that time an actual working hoverboard (of sorts) has been created. So it’s extremely unlikely that Lexus has made such an amazing leap in technology. Sure they could make a prettier version of the Hendo, but you’d still have to ride it on a special surface. I’m sure it won’t cost much to retrofit an average skatepark for maglev technology. If you’re buying into it, they’re going to release more details on Oct. 21, 2015, which is the date Marty McFly went “Back to the Future.” I guess they couldn’t wait till the next April Fools day. It looks like the old Tony Hawk Ride game controller from Activision. (Yes, I’ll eat my hat if I’m wrong, but I’ll be excited about it.)
