Brand new, vintage-style artwork hand painted on a NOS vintage skateboard, an idea close to my heart. I’ve still got that box of NOS steel wheel skateboard truck combos in my basement. Although my intent was to screen print graphics on brand new hardwood decks with the same shape. Grits Co takes it a step further.

Tyrie Smith found this old skateboard ad for Steve’s South Bay Sporting Goods in the 1976 Marvel Two-in-one comic book with the Thing and Ka-Zar. Fortunately for Skate and Annoy’s readers, Tyrie’s barber shop has a stack of comic books laying around. Steve’s South Bay also advertised in skateboard magazines. Hey gang! The also-rans include Skateboard Rider Skateshop, Furley and Baker Skateboard Range, Southern Skateboard Centre, and Truckstop.

Who knows how long this mural has been up? I just noticed it, and it’s in my own damned neighborhood. I am a hermit. The best part of this is the crazed looking squirrel that someone decided was in need of a little nut sack. You can view the entirety of this yet unreleased Asia album cover after the jump.
