OK this one looks like it came out in 1990, so technically not an 80’s skate zine but close enough. It seems like a lot of skate scenes had/have a guy named Sluggo, but 312 zine was put out by Chicago’s own Sluggo. 312 was Chicago’s original primary zip code. The layout is simple, regular sized photos taped to a page with some hand written captions, and the reproduction is pretty good. I don’t know if any other issues were produced. I met Sluggo once or twice maybe when I briefly had a screen printing business in Chicago. I want to say Slugg’s Skates was a skateboard brand that he was printing, and not. skate shop, but that was decades ago. I could be wrong. I picked up some of the full names of the people mentioned by cross refereeing Chi-Town Shred #7.
Featuring: YMCA contest in Evanston, Sluggo Contest, Rockford NSA vert, The Turf,
Skaters: Dave Leroux, Eric Frolon, Gator, (Dave?) Duncan, Johnny Reed, King James, Zack, Ivan C, Jim Zaucha, Eric, “Bio” Bob Kohl, Jeremy
Spots: Captain Sluggos Micro Ramp, The Turf, Skate Church
Honorable Mentions: “Former CTS (Chi-Town Shred) Editor and now East Coast Husband Johnny Reed.” Sluggo’s Skates.
