Published out of Cocoa Beach, Florida. A split magazine with Skate Rider on one side and Wave Rider on the other side in the opposite orientation. The surfing content of Wave Rider takes up 55 pages of the 88 total pages in this issue. Features on Cherry Hill Skatepark skateparks in Brazil, steel pipes near Tampa's rainbow Wave skatepark and Jacksonville, Homegrown features on Mark Lake and Joe Manglicmon, Clearwater Pro Open contest, W.R.A.P.S (Wide Radical Annual Party Session) contest at Sensation Basin. Mast gives n o indication of when this was published but the W.R.A.P.S contest took place December 10th in 1978 so that makes this likely a 1979 publication. The editorial mentions how "double-wide skateboard tops" are wreaking havoc on the market for "narrow tops." Also of note, the editorial mentions they had planned a history of skateboarding for this issue, from the East Coast view point, but put it off after learning from Richard Novak that "another mag" was planning one from a West Coast perspective. it mentions the first skate park built was in Port Orange, Florida, and the first skatepark demolished was also in Florida, the Paved Wave. There were Paved Waves in South Carolina and New Jersey as well. Florida's was located Pensacola. Staff: Editor John Griffin, Art Director - Rob McGrath, Photo Editor - Jim Day. Contributing Photographers - Kris White, Craig Snyder, Gary Medeiros. The ads in the surfing side of this magazine are not included in this gallery.
