Featured Skateboard: Skee Skate
Sears Christmas Book from 1964, page 160. 1964 is the earliest we’ve seen any skateboards in department store catalogs, going back to 1959. Granted, we haven’t definitively seen every catalog there is. In 1964 they weren’t ready to classify skateboarding as a legitimate outdoor activity, and as a result, the skateboard is sandwiched between the bouncy toys, clip-on roller skates (real roller skates have their own page) and archery gear.
