Road trips from promised land to promised land
Besides playing host to hoards of skate tourists from other parts of the country and world, Pacific Northwesters still find excuses to go on road trips to less fortunate places like… California! ( I kid, I kid….) Here’s a couple road trip videos from KC (found at EPM) and Frank Shaw. If I didn’t already know any better I would think that the “K” in K.C. stood for “Kilwag’s record collection.” KC reps for Scum but the also stopped by Billy Runaway’s headquarters, who happens to be an Addikt.
Missed that wave
More tarp surfing, this time from the folks at the Mountain Dew ad agency. I haven’t actually seen this one on the air, but a few months ago there was an iPhone ad that featured an Iphone (duh!) playing a video of tarp surfing. Mountain Dew takes it to the next level by employing the largest tarp to date and combining it with a large bank in a ditch.

Disney is shreddin’ up California
This is a recent postcard my son got from his grandmother. By the looks of that Cooper style hockey helmet that Mickey Mouse is wearing it could have been from the 70’s but Donald is sporting a bicycle-style helmet and then there is the web address printed on the back. Somebody call the Department of Child Services, Donald’s nephews aren’t wearing helmets! Mickey is rockin’ som e of those new kingpin-less trucks. In Bizarro World there’s some sort of Californian American anti-defimation league that is upset by the stereotype this postcard perpetuates.
Bankrobber strikes again!
The skateboarding bandit has struck again. I’m going to declare it now. He’s a modern day folk hero. Clyde (his board is Bonnie). Just like Jessie James, I hear he’s cheating on Sandra Bullock. No new photo though, so we’re still at sqaure one as far as identifying his skateboard company of choice. The LA Times credits this phototo the FBI, but shouldn’t it really go t the bank or the company that manufactures the security camera. And seriously, it’s 2010. Is this the highest resolution security camera technology we have?

Platypus and Cachagua Land
Zarosh Eggleston is busy building his own little skatopia called Cachagua Land on hill top in California. Helping to fund it along the way, hand screened Platipuss skateboards from the multitalented artist himself. I saw this DIY concrete extravaganza in a video before. I can’t recall what it was in though, maybe Strange Notes? Spend some time trolling around Platipuss (sic), there’s a lot of interesting goings on going on over there. Zarosh accepts donations for concrete.A big enough donation will net you a limited edition t-shirt or deck. Of course you can buy one one of the others outright too. Check out his screen rig up top. I’d love to pick his brain on that. That, and why he strayed from the traditional spelling of Platypus.

Firebaugh Fred’s benefit bash june 26th
Fred’s family has a permission pool and has always gone out of their way to accommodate the skaters that session there. Unfortunately, their house was destroyed by fire recently. The skateboarding community is trying to give a little back this Saturday with a benefit bash at the bowl. Any money raised goes directly to Fred’s family. The location is 7385 Road 6, Firebaugh, California. Check out the flyer.
