Peanuts: June 20th, 1965

Peanuts Wikia says this cartoon of sally on roller skates while the rest of the gang rides skateboards, including Linus, Snoopy, and some random kid whose name I can’t figure out even with the help of wikipedia, which has an extensive listing of main and minor characters in Peanuts. Newspapers across the country have been rerunning “Classic Peanuts” strips since Charles Schulz died. The ones you can see on Peanuts.com have all been colorized, and in the case of the Sunday versions, reformatted slightly. Charles always treated skateboarding with respect in his strips. Whenever they appeared they were matter of fact, and not used for a pratfall. Catch the colorized version after the jump.

Brooke McCarter R.I.P.

Brooke McCarter died from a genetic liver disorder yesterday. To pedestrians he is best known as a vampire in the Lost Boys, but skateboarders of a certain age will recognize him from his supporting roll as a Ramp Local in Thrashin’.

bowl

$9000 or best offer

If you’re in the Philadelphia area and have a truck as big as the hole in your wallet, why not pick ups this bowl/spine/mini ramp combo? It looks like it’s well built and would be fun to ride. Does anyone ever actually buy giant used ramps like this? The price might be reasonable, but the whole thing is just so impractical to move. If you buy this, I think I’m out of town the weekend you’re moving it, but I should be back in time to help you ride it.

Merry Christmas from China

A random sample of email I get form companies in China trying to sell me skateboards. I thought I had posted this before but it didn’t show up when I searched for Elephant. The “blog” section of Skate and Annoy has been running for about 10 years now… it’s hard to keep track of this stuff. Nothing says Christmas like an elephant jumping over the great wall of China on a plastic skateboard.

Stay Fresh Pony Boy

Stay Fresh Air Enhancements has some skateboard imagery in their line up of auto air fresheners. They have traditional scents like cherry, Piña Colada, and sandalwood, and in the case of the Fred Smith “Loud Ones” logo, something called Blood, Sweat, and Beers. The only thing missing from this line up is a set of double capped Pro-designs with leopard skin spandex that smells like pad-rot.
