Skate and Annoy: Daily
Deck Dogz
Kicking off the inaugural post of Gratuitous Tony Hawk Appearances is Deck Dogz, an Australian movie out on DVD. Here’s Tony greeting the protagonists towards the end of the flick.
Snake Runs For Everyone!
This is going to be everywhere soon. As near as I can tell, Grindline is building a figure 8 snake run style skatepark in Dillon Montana. Instead of the jump over the middle there is a full pipe. Sure, Dreamland’s park in Hailey is close to the same, but this one is scaled down and geared more towards being able to transverse the park in any direction. Park slalom anyone? Pier Park in Progress
More pics of St. Johns Pier Park in progress. We sort of busted some kids sneaking into the park to skate. gave them a friendly lecture and tried not to sound like old men. These pics are a couple weeks old but not much else has been done in the meantime, at least not to a casual observer. Click the pic or this link to go to see more. Mark has a couple nicer ones here.
Steal Yer Heart
The Briefs! Two great shows in two nights! Two music posts in a row too, don’t worry I won’t make a habit of it. The Briefs played a free show at Dantes last night. Also on the bill were the Punk Group (also great) and the Nice Boys (depends on the show). Not nearly as packed as it was for the Buzzcocks. Steal Yer Heart is the latest Briefs CD. When asked about a new release, the ever gracious Kicks said they were writing new songs. More pics after the jump.
Flat Pack Philosophy
The Buzzcocks played in our town last night. They are still putting on good live shows and more importantly, still putting out really good records. The set started out with about six songs straight from the new release Flat Pack Philosophy on Cooking Vinyl before launching into a non-stop barrage of tunes from the first three releases with Orgasm Addict thrown in for good measure. During an encore they played Sick City from the 2003 release Buzzcocks
Blog and Annoy!
Oh yeah! Diggin the Kool-Aid theme song, and this Kool-Aid Dixie cup dispenser. So this is the first entry into the blog that I’m integrating into the web site that you know and love, Skate and Annoy. I’ve resisted the temptation for a long time until I realized that it makes perfect sense it’s the least painful way to make frequent updates. The bitch of it was integrating it into the structure of the curent web site. I’ve got a redesign on the backburner, so this is just an quick and dirty fix. I’ll be tinkering with it for quite a while, but a work in progress is better than no progress at all. So yeah, we’re blogging, but there’s no way in hell that I’m getting involved in all that Myspace nonsense. Besides, I’m married and don’t need a date.
