Skate and Annoy: Daily
Vert Sucks.
No, it doesn’t. But try telling that to the kids at Beaverton Oregon’s skate park. These ramps were originally garbage picked, well donated by the X-Games. If you wanted to ride the vert ramp it usually meant you had to kick the kids off the flat bottom. These pics are from such a session, circa 2001. When the bottom rotted out of the vert ramp, local officials decided to replace it with more street obstacles made of concrete, even, I hear. Does anyone want to send in some pics of the new street developments? That would be great, mmm-kay? More after the jump.
Ooooh, Pretty.
Me take pretty picture. Nice. So far the only picture MC has declassified from the Hailey Loop of Death mission is this striking shot. Follow the link to see it in all it’s glory. It’s worth it.
Conspiracy Saikou Video
Conspiracy has a new video out titled Saikou. Yeah, I don’t know what it means either, but we’ve got a review.
Hailey Loop of Death?
Looks like I might have to add a loop category. As I type this, MC from
Loop of Death Update
He lives. More details from Port Orford Oregon field correspondent Shoey about the loop mishap. He’s Zac “The MAC” McKenzie from Port Orford. He’s sixteen and destroys everything. He broke his jaw in two places, got a concussion and scored some groupies from the show. He’s all healed up now and back to throwin 3 foot frontsides in the deep end. Everyone give a big hand to the kid from OREGON !!!!!!!!!!!! Photos by Abe Lambright. Check out an animated image of the fall after the jump.
Skate Shark Attack
Do not adjust your TV sets. This is not an eBay report. This is a new graphic er, uhm, appropriation of the old Nash graphic circa 1960…? Of course it’s totally self serving, but not quite for sale yet so there’s no point in linking. No matter who made it.
Hello St. Louis!
The Didjits did indeed, rock the nation. This was from their only Champaign Illinois appearance after their reunion for the Touch And Go 25th anniversary show. The crowd packed the High Dive even though it was an early show. Instead of the crowd feeling threatened, which was a common occurrence at early Didjits gigs, everyone seemed to be in awe that they were witnessing the Didjits again, on their home turf, and possibly for the last time. This is part one of two installments.
Hump Day
I had some fun here even though the inept builders of this skatepark in Champaign Illinois applied the Jersey Barrier theory of transition to these bumps in the street course. Could have been awesome, but once you get over your initial reaction to wretch, you can actually have some fun on these bumps. I almost broke my arm being a smart-ass by trying to hit all the bumps one after another. More after the jump.
Re-Devo
One good Devo post deserves another. The Wipeouters are described as a reformation of a pre-Devo garage band, although you have to take that with a grain of salt because those guys tend to make up a lot of their historical information. Juice Magazine did a piece on them around 2001, which appears to have been when they peaked. Yesterday’s Devo video got me interested, so I dug up this Wipeouters video for Twist-N-Launch on Youtube, complete with a skateboarding little person.
Freedom of Choice
Classic Devo and classic skateboarding, circa 1980. Maybe the first music video to feature skateboarding if you don’t count Skater Dater. The DVD compilation The Complete Truth About De-Evolution has been out since 2003, so it’s not surprising that this clip turned up on You Tube. Peep it via Earth Patrol Media, who had the good sense to spot this. Yes that’s Stacy Peralta up top. Some other pros are in it as well, but I can’t remember who.
