I remember being extremely stoked on the first Sorry video, and then rather bored by the second one. Now it’s time for the third installment, “Extremely Sorry.” I though this was the Internet Age. I can’t believe they are still milking the franchise. It feels like Sorry came out at the beginning of the millennium, and it Almost did… Portland is having a premier on Friday the 9th at the Department: The new Flip video “EXTREMELY SORRY” will be premiering this Friday night October 9th at 8PM at The Dept. Normally this is when we would go into a brief synopsis of the video but if you don’t know that you should’ve been eagerly anticipating this video for the last 2 years than maybe you should stay home. The Flip team features the gnarliest skaters shredding the gnarliest array of terrain..street, vert, pools, mega ramps. As if that’s not enough, “EXTREMELY SORRY” also showcases the cinematic talents of OG Gresham Loc/Lifelong Pharmacy family member/3rd Westhusing brother/Friend to the entire PDX skate scene/Random Camera Surveillance Director Kurt Hayashi. This week’s Shot of the Week is Jake Selover putting the “tuck knee” in, uh, the tuck knee air out at his friend Dru’s vert ramp near Bend, Oregon. Yes, there is a vert scene in Bend, Oregon. The sign says “Next vert ramp 819 miles.” Check out the Shot of the Week.

I don’t know exactly where this park falls in the Dreamland timeline. I think it happened after the initial Lincoln City park, but before Newberg. In fact, the park isn’t listed on the Dreamland web site, (Update: It is actually. – I think wasn’t there at one time, and I was going from memory.) and the physical sign on site credits “Mark Scott Construction LLC.” I’ve heard a lot of smack talk about the Redmond park, so I was prepared for something hideous, but it really wasn’t bad. You can tell it’s early on in the evolution though.

Continuing a theme from yesterday’s post. First up, a trailer for the film “Foolishness,” a slick film directed by Brian Sumner for Skate Bible. The skating looks top notch. Then there’s the message, starring some of the usual suspects like Christian Hosoi and now Cab. Noticeably missing from the list of famous proselytizing rippers, Lance Mountain. Next up, the satire called “Skate Babble.” Not very slick, and a little obvious, but still has a few good chuckles. This is basically a rip off of this post, so thanks to the guy who made it and sent in the tip, Simon Wright.

I forgot I had taken a few photos at Madras until the one of the kids in the pics emailed me and asked for them. So here you have the Madras, Oregon skatepark, built by Dreamland. It’s a nice little park about an hour outside of Bend, Oregon. The combi bowl is fairly deep, but everything else is pretty small. There’s a nice spine and plenty of odd bits of skate terrain to screw around on. The locals are colorful and friendly. There’s also a bathroom and electrical outlet. Not a destination park per se, but if you are anywhere in the area you should definitely check it out. Don’t get too excited about the Black Bear Diner. The onion rings were really tasty, but the rest of the food was dry and bland, and the waitresses look like they subscribe to Sensible Women’s Wear Daily. I don’t know what that means, except to say that if you’ve ever seen the HBO show Big Love, think of the compound.

Actually, I think the momentum has swung away from Satan, what, with TV shows like the Uprising. This illustration found on Flickr references the old Trident gum TV commercials. I think SNL or someone else did a bit about those commercials. Maybe it was Kids in the Hall. In any case, I’m not a big fan of Satan, because if you beleive in him, then you have to believe in Jesus too. I’m more of a Bob Dobbs or Touched by His Noodly Appendage guy. That shouldn’t stop your from checking out YAIAGIFT’s flickr stream of illustrations. – Uh, thanks to MC for the tip.

I know this is not exactly current, but I let it go without an official post. Danny was what I’d like to call a “friend of the site.” Some friends are more difficult than others, but they are friends. We’ve had a few difficult friends here. Some of them disappeared, like Dick Cancer, and some of them got the boot like Daddy Yo. Colinwalshrules has even become somewhat productive around here on occasion. It was pretty obvious to me that Danny had some problems, but he was involved in one of the pinnacle times in skateboarding history, and did call me “Mr. Kilwag” when he was trying to get into my good graces. Apparently, Danny touched a lot of people. Here’s what Curt from Poweredge had to say: He rode for my father MAKAHA in the 60’s and we became friends even though he’d been injured badly as a kid. He was never the same…. But always friendly…. and in the new movie about makaha and the history of skateboarding… He was my neighbor and he lived to be 59 so I don’t know… He was mis-understood because of the meds and the accident he had it fucked him up……
