Skate and Annoy: Daily
Annoying Kid of the Month
More like biannual annoying kid. This one comes from Colin Walsh, who reminds us that the BCSA benefit show is coming up soon. So this kid was pan handling. I’m broke too, but I’ve got a 20 year master plan to make massive riches by selling this website to the ghost of Steve Rocco. Like they say with the lottery here in Oregon, for entertainment only, not for investment purposes. So yeah, be entertained by this guy.
In case there ever was a doubt
Roving reporter John Agular spotted this lovely Vision Street Wear scooter. So, yeah, looking forward to seeing how the VSW reissue scooters sell on eBay in 20 years. Reminds me of a hilarious bumper sticker that showed up on eBay in 2004. Kind of a niche joke, which makes all the more appealing to the nerd that runs this site.
GVK#66: Old Man Litinski
Old man Marek hanging with his son Radek at Gabriel park. I had not skated with Marek for some time. He is solid as ever and still retains his good looks how can this be. Well it is. Editors Note:GVK has a new home in the features section. You can comment there. Just as with eBay Watch, the comments aren’t showing up on the sidebar here, but they will be integrated soon-ish. In the mean time, enjoy the new larger video format.
Mercury 7 and the New 9 opening
Arthur Lindsey is curating an exhibit at Artery called Mercury 7 and the New 9 featuring Dave Carnie, Ashley Anson, Russ Pope, Salvador Perdomo, Ray Gordon, Kim Hamblin, Todd Bratrud, Roger Seliner, Chris Johanson, David Petersen, Andy Jenkins, Jason Adams, Chris Corales, Johanna Jackson, Chris Pastras and Sam Coomes. More info after the jump.
Friday T&A on S&A: Playboy
So the weird thing about this Palyboy TV video of nekkid girls skateboarding isn’t that they actually know how to carve in a bowl, ( one of them at least ) but that SkateLab is trying walk the tightrope between marketing products for kids at Target and Walmart, and providing a backdrop for adult videos. This Playboy TV sequence is pretty asexual, but I’m pretty sure there has been at least one really adult film made there. I thought I posted about it but I couldn’t find it. Helmet’s off to the management though, in theory that shouldn’t be a conflict of interest at all. For anyone keeping track, this isn’t Playboy’s first foray into naked skateboarding. – Thanks to Marek Litinsky, Greg Baller and Aaron Shims
Gnarly Gnome
Asda Superstore, the UK equivalent of a Walmart is selling these skateboarding garden gnomes for £5 a piece, which begs the question, why make a skateboarding garden gnome? Well, why not? I actually think it’s kind of funny, although It would have been better if it looked like a garden variety (ouch) gnome. I’d like him to be less conspicuous, just standing there with his board against his side. Still, if I was in the UK I’d pony up 8 bucks for one of these. I mean. look at this web site… You’re damned right I watermarked that photo. – Thanks to Andy Turner for the tip.
Man About Town
Yeah.. I’m at a loss about this one. Man About Town is a magazine with “Babes, bikes, battleships, booze, burgers, boards & beastly behaviour” but then this video sure is an odd one. I was intrigued with the juxtaposition of stlyes and eras, and ready to give it a thumbs up based purely on the execution of the concept, but the major continuity blunder in going from penny loafers to Vision Street Wear high tops bummed me out. I might have to invent an S&A award just so I can give it to this video. Make no mistake, I love it that people feel a need to make skateboarding videos like this. I wonder if Kilian Martin turned up to the shoot with a European carryall for a skatebag… Has anyone seen this magazine? I mean, I know people have seen it, but I’m asking our readers. Catch the vid on Vimeo. Embedding is disabled. – Thanks to Dandy MC for the tip.
