Skate and Annoy: Daily
When sewing means glamour
Rad Applique. What the hell is MC doing hanging out at Michaels? Ok Patch Adams, that’s enough.
Crystal
Crystal clear plexiglass skateboard by Pulp68, although it’s not on their site anywhere. Pictures via Rad Collector. Video after the jump. – Thanks to Boy Ipoh for the tip.
Skate Xylophone
A xylophone in the shape of a skateboard. It’s intended for children, and may have been recalled at some point because you can’t find many pictures of it on the web, outside of this auction and one Google link led me to list of recalled toys, but this one was not on there.
Minus Five is burned out
Wood burning on skateboards courtesy of Minus Five in Brooklyn. Dude, your resumé link is broken.
Skater Dater? Try Date Skaters.
I first I thought this was a gag, but now I’m betting it’s a carefully crafted fishing attempt to pad the email lists of Viagra spammers. And no, it’s not because I joined the site and got all kinds of spam. I didn’t get any after I joined… wait, I mean I didn’t join, I swear! Funny how if you reload the page, only women (ages 19 – 61!) are featured among the random “Real Member Profiles” featured. They also start repeating fairly quickly. I hate to link to this, because I’m sure it’s going to hurt our Google rankings, but here’s your chance to Date Skaters. I’m pretty sure some of them are posers. – Thanks to Quartersnacks for the tip.
Heaven forbid!
According to the Mercury News: Amid the worst budget crisis in city history, with even police officers worried for their jobs, city leaders last fall said San Jose’s gem of a skate park — California’s largest — would have to either be left as an unstaffed free-for-all, privatized or possibly even padlocked. Heaven forbid an unstaffed free-for-all! Then it would be just like every public skatepark in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin, and probably a few other states too. – Thanks to Matthijs for the tip.
Rubber, leather and rivets
As much as these look like bindings from water skis attached to a goofy piece of wood, the mechanical design of the skateboard rack from MAxRax is clever. I thin they might sell better wiithout the graphics. Attach the mount to the wall, and the top part slides up as you insert it into the rubber sheath… actually it’s a little bit fetishistic, but a clever design none the less. – Thanks to Boy Ipoh for the tip.
Dyrdek honors his roots
It’s being reported that Rob Dyrdek is negotiating the purchase of Alien Workshop off of Burton. “While Rob’s message was definitely premature, we did want to confirm that we are in an open dialog with him about a possible purchase. At this point, please note that nothing is confirmed, and we will absolutely do a formal announcement when and/or if that transition happens.” That kid loves Ohio. I imagine that’s got to be a good feeling, buying the brand that gave you a start in your own neck of the woods. [Source: Shop Eat Surf via Skateboarder Image exceprt: Gentlemanly Conduct] P.S. Yes, I realize this is not exactly hot off the presses.
