These are business cards for Powell Peralta, which are excellent in an of themselves, plus they have the added benefit (or detraction, depending on your point of view) of being reminiscent of the Feederz album “Ever Feel like Killing Your Boss?” which was covered in sandpaper that meant it would destroy any record cover it came in contact with. Likewise, if someone gave you this business card you probably would want to put it in your wallet or pocket next to your phone. The even went the extra step of adding a kicktail. If only they took this attention to detail and applied it to some of their rereleases. And it it goes without saying (except I’m saying it…) that these obviously remind me of the Maple XO hang tags. Maple XO is hosting a fashion show this Friday night in response to Jeremy Scott’s recent ripoff, as well as design ripoffs in general. Is there a difference between plagiarism and appropriation? I hope so. Maple XO is no stranger to having some of their own work copied wholesale. This kind of event screams for some GVK coverage. See you there?

You’d be surprised what you stumble across trying to find skateboard guitars. Coffin skateboards, for example. So this one was made for the parents of an unfortunate 11 year old boy who met his demise, but that didn’t stop Crazy Coffins from parading it around to a bunch public galleries and letting people clown around with it. Jughead got in on the skateboard craze too, possibly before Archie ever set foot on one. Issue 136 is dated November of 1965. In this illustration Jughead looks and dresses like a guy I went to college with in the 80’s. We called him Nest. (Hello Tom!)

Spotted on the streets of Portland outside an art store. That tank and logo style matches one I saw on a ’78, but those wheels and styling makes me think this is from around 1980 or so. So what is this technically, moped or motorcycle? Oh right, there’s a chopped skateboard on back for the rack platform seat!. Put some urethane on that son, it will last longer. UPDATE: I think I found the original owner of this thing online: Thanks to Dwayne Hoster of MopedArmy, I have found a Minamagnum! A Baretta 38 that has been ‘converted’ into a Puch Magnum, also a few pictures of a Baretta Magnum It’s hard to notice with all the other stuff going on int picture, but there are actual pedals attached to this thing, so it’s officially moped.
